First of all, that's a poor excuse, because if a PC is designed properly it's supposed to pass any benchmarks with flying colors.
Second, even with a "real world" example it was very close to the thermal limits and throttling. Running at 90C is still fucking terrible for a "workstation". And keep in mind the review was in the middle of winter, so that's probably optimistic.

I have the 6-core model, and mainly do composing with it. It's nice, fast enough, quiet but the amount of wires you need to connect to it (external storage/peripherals etc.) nullifies the so called "beauty" and form factor. I have the Thunderbolt Display but it doesn't help much on the beforementioned.
