I'm sorry but I have to tell you that you fell for the AMD CPU meme.

the i5 is worth it , trust me. Im an AMD shill but until Zen is out (Q4 2016) intel is the way to go , unless you want cheap, weak cores that are only good for processing code rather than gaming go ahead. TL;DR i5 or >>>/out/

Yeah, I have been a hardcore AMD fanboy for at least the past 7-8 years but I am now challenging my bias. There are a few reasons I like Intel now (not necessarily better than AMD):
>Pricing isn't too bad on i5 processors
>I actually have a job
>AMD hasn't really done anything new and good since bulldozer
>AMD laptops with dedicated graphics are hard to find, thought about an A10 but got an i5-5200u and Nvidia graphics for 360 bucks
>Intel has Ultra low power CPUs, enough to be put in phones now
>AMD is getting hard to find in prebuilts, laptops, etc again except at the very low end
>some of the Intel "budget" line can now deliver a good price/performance match for AMD
>single core performance for AMD is lacking, I had an AMD APU laptop for example and it choked terribly running a 10 year old single core heavy game like Oblivion
My main rig is still AMD based but I am now willing to consider an Intel switch. Zen will use new sockets anyway so I want to keep my options open and save enough money to get a nice PC either way. Rumor has it that the Zen processors will not be all that cheap either.

even lower specs than the moderately powerful machine i did 4 years ago
