so whats /g/'s opinion on mactype? It seems like a legit solution to default shitty pixel bound ( 800x600 anyone? ) microsoft font rendering. Do you use it? If not why?

Because all it does is create a blurry mess, as shown in your picture. Windows' sharp default font rendering is both better and fine.

The fonts in all of these look the same to me as my current default Win10 fonts. Could someone point out the major differences?

nvm disregard everything i suck cocks, just install Font Rendering Enhancer if you are on Chrome or Opera and make sure directwrite is on, it will only affect browser but it doesnt have any kerning issues and font stays sharp

It just werks on my machine then.
It's a nice effort, but it doesn't do shit for Windows' brain-dead kerning. So you get pretty glyphs, but they're still placed badly.

tried to turn it off, it looks too sharp on 1080p as if no antialiasing is applied, on 720p its not as noticable i guess

I never notice the difference between my windows 10, xubuntu, and os x fontrendering

I didn't notice anything installing pure whtever with chrome
Font rendering is only important to me when I am using a monitor that I can only connect to through VGA. Even then it looks fine if I configure ClearType
Because only mouth breathing idiots and children use Windows on their home computer because they are too ignorant to get a better OS. And I am neither.

Never, never use edge. Look at this shit. Worst part about it, you can't change the font settings.
