What app do you Android users use for offline music playback on your smartphones?

I've tried Poweramp, Rocket Player, and doubleTwist and their user interfaces are all fucking awful.

I'm using pic related if it matters.

GoneMAD.

I used to use PowerAmp, but it doesn't support the Opus format until recently, so it can go take a hike. Looks like it's stuck in the holo as well. At least GoneMAD supports pretty much all formats out there, has a really good amount of settings, great customisability, material design with customisable colors, menus and several layouts to choose from, has a good equalizer and is updated frequently.

Stellio seemed like a good newcomer as well, however I didn't like the way you interact with the UI on that one, so I'm sticking with GoneMAD.

Neutron Music Player.

It's objectively better because it has Opus support and is the only player with a parametric EQ.

However the UI is really ugly and by what you said i can assume that you're looking for design over function, so feel free to skip this one.

Poweramp.

"B-but it looks like shit!!!"
1. Get a different skin. There's tons.
2. Why does that even fucking matter? You're playing music, not watching videos. As long as its easy to use and navigate with, that should be more than enough.

"B-but I don't want to play for a media player!!!"
Good fucking luck finding a player with a decent amount of essential features that isn't trialware or bloated with ads. Seriously, most players are only a dollar, so save that dollar you were going to spend on a McDouble and get a media player instead.

I've heard good things about Apollo though, so if you're really adamant about not using Poweramp for some reason, give that a look if you can find it (it's not on the Play Store to my knowledge).

I don't see why other music players fail to grasp that a touch interface is much worse than a keyboard based interface.
Putting a song to the back of a queue is usually done by pressing a key.
On touch you only have a short press and a long press.
Poweramp is the only one (i found) which can change the default action, so single press pushes the song to the queue.

Shuttle(+) for local playback
Spotify for streaming
Google Play Music for streaming your own files you've uploaded.

I tried a lot but ultimately went back to the default google play music app

shuttle+ didn't support loudness normalization saved into mp3 files

Hm yes, v4 looks nice, I've only seen 3.6 I think

So in your opinion every single app should have it's own design and it's own controls in it's own places instead of just using standardized stuff which is already ready and done?
>>
>>52315065
>So in your opinion every single app should have it's own design and it's own controls in it's own places instead of just using standardized stuff which is already ready and done?
If they fit the said app, then yes. Look at Chrome on Android, it isn't material in terms of functionality, only just by looks. It would not fit to a browser.
>>
>>52315121
>it isn't material in terms of functionality
In what way?
Genuinely curious

>It would not fit to a browser
But we can see that MD can and does fit music players

(also I wish Google released the music player example app that they're using in their documentation, shit looks cash)
>>
>>52315163
No side panel and hamburger menu, no action button.. these things have no place in a browser.
>>
>>52315269
But an app doesn't NEED to have those to be MD

IIRC the hamburger menu allows you to switch between different "contexts" within an app

Ex. Apps & Games, Music, Movies, etc in the Play store

Chrome doesn't really have that

But I do agree with the FAB, it needs an FAB in the tab screen
>>
>>52315312
>it needs an FAB in the tab screen
Actually I just remembered that Google in a way deprecated the tab screen with Lollipop when they shoved the tabs into the recent apps screen (which is idiotic IMO)
