seriously, just reinstall windows.
then install firefox, umatrix/noscript, ublock origin and malwarebytes so this shit does not happen again.

Okay, first you have to realize the type of person that let a PC get into that condition, now you're adding a bunch of roadblocks that need to be tuned on a case-by-case basis using common sense; do you really want this person to be calling you over when their "site isn't working"?

Yep, I agree. Ubuntu is really a distro that your grandma could use, but it can be easily broken, so there's that...

Noscript is a poor choice. You need to be at least somewhat tech literate to make it work.

Even if you instal Adblock etc. on a normie's computer, you need to teach them how to turn it off and whitelist pages in case some wanted content is being blocked by default.
>>52234051
The order of the words should be switched using that analogy.
>>52234477
Don't care about sorting. DD/MM/YYY makes the most sense. You'd probably get asked which day is roday (4) not month let alone year.
>>52232977
Why cant you nuke? I'd expect a computer tech to have every version of Windows installation media under the sun unless you're locked out of the bios
>>52234477
It's definitely superior for storage and archival purposes but, for day to day use DD/MM/YYYY is better, you don't need to know what year is it all the time. MM/DD/YYYY is retarded though
>>52233929
surely, by downloading more RAM :o)
>>52234389
And do they succeed in figuring out the problems on their own? It they do, you have an awesome family.
>>52234527
>you need to teach them how to turn it off and whitelist pages in case some wanted content is being blocked by default.
Installed ublock on my neighbor's pc with as many lists as possible so she wouldn't catch shit again.
A few days later some stuff wouldn't load on a website so i just told her that the website was broken, she said "fucking lazy bums".
Saved myself a whole lot of hassle.

I just remember the first time I saw it and feeling physical pain - like, the kind of sympathetic pain you feel when you see somebody getting kicked in the nuts - for the poor PC on which it was made, even if it was all done in a VM.
>>52234128
>people dumb enough to install crapware are not tech literate enough to use linux tho fàm
Actually, the fact that linux gives you leeway to do whatever you want with it without restrictions (which is one of the reasons why is popular with advanced users) doesn't mean that is harder to use, that's a big myth. On top of that, most linux distros gives you repositories full of useful apps for free (cost) and under much more friendly terms for the user, practically without risk of getting third party crap installed. Microsoft could (and should) do the same, but they preferred to give people shovelware and fill their store with mobile-like apps with pretty limited functionality. For this, i think that linux distros like ubuntu are way more suitable for "illiterate users" (as you call them) than what windows has ever been.
Chrome + ublock. Prevents all that shit from coming back. If they call you and ask why a site isn't working or why ublock blocked a site, "you're on one of those bad sites again. Stop using it."
>>52236318
>Chrome
lmao
>>52236576
/g/ still doing its le botnet meme in 2016 still? Chrome has the phishing detection/bad website list built in. Critical if you're dealing with regards. A simple list won't work; at least Chrome can tell if it's phishing of not. SJWfox can't.
>>52236661
>Chrome
lmao
>>52236256
True. If every distro had a ''pretty'' package manager like the one on Ubuntu, it would do the whole community good - meaning that more normies will actually use GNU/Linux.
>>52233277
Some of those adwares can be a real pain in the ass to completely remove. A friend of mine bought a new laptop and literally the day after it was fucking riddled with adware. I don't even know how you get that shit.
Anyway I've had luck with AdwCleaner, it's free and it has removed shit others didn't (like the Bitdefender adware removal tool).
>>52236661
Firefox and Chrome share the same phishing list, as far as I remember.
