Because Apple had a vision for aesthetics and ironing out the finer details, they had a head start in design due to Jobs, this is their brand equity.
Unfortunately after 2011, without Jobs they are turning into just another tech company. They have so much cash that they become complacent and stopped innovating.

This dock is trash. It works like shit when it's encumbered with apps, but if you clean it up it looks like shit, plus it's even harder to launch apps. Also, almost every UI element is nailed down, and if you dislike it, all you can do is go fuck yourself.
I bought a $2300 5K iMac with a fusion drive, and honestly I don't see myself needing an upgrade for years and years.
I use it with my das keyboard just fine and my razor mouse.
Why Mac OSX is better (at least for me as a developer):
1. Postgres.app - No bullshit database installation.
2. Homebrew. `brew install imagemagick` come on, it's so simple. UNIX feels pleb in comparison.
3. Unix power + Windows functionality = no brainer.
Honestly if you're using Linux you're just too poor to afford the better Mac device, and that's fine. Just don't pretend Linux is better for the end user. Linux belongs in the server.
