How many have you forever lost?

>2 so far.

I just lost one. I hope they like big titties.
>>
you can't lose one if you never leave the house :^)
>>
>>52203080
About 200 Flash drives.
Never lost one to this day.
>>
>>52203080
I've lost only one.
It contained my beast porn, within an encrypted container. Hopefully Serpent/Whirlpool was enough.
>>
>>52203080
None this year. Which probably beats last year.

Last year I lost 2 32GB usb3 sticks, all 8 out of a new pack of 8GB sticks for work, 2 other 8GB ones of my own, and I intentionally broke 3 because they were unreliable, and I didn't want anyone making the mistake of trying to use them.
>>
>>52203124
it wasn't lost, anon
it was taken
>>
I lost one 6 months ago. Do I still have a chance of getting it back if my contact is in it?

what's the best cheap usb flash on the market? i'm not actually paying serious money for these things but i'd like something nicer than the old ass 8 gig sandisk i've carried around for years.
>>
i think i left it in a plastic shopping bag and threw it in the trash

it weighed nothing
>>

none Lost
1 -4gb died. Linux Persistence goof.
>>
>>52203718
$12 for 16GB on ebay USA. dont buy from china
>>
>>52203080
2 i lost one when it fell in some whiskey, the other one was some shitty promo usb that only held 128mb in the 2000's
>>
how long until it's lost forever? week month year?
>>
>>52203718
I always buy them when school's beginning. Most recently Walmart was selling 16GB Sandisks for $5. I bought 6.
>>
Lost more than I can count. I just buy about a half dozen at a time and throw them in a drawer. I don't keep anything important on them though.... Mostly OS install disks, drivers and recovery software.
>>
>>52203834
USB12or3?

are they slow as fug?
>>
>>52203080
One died on me recently. Just a relic from when I had a 360 with only a 12gb hard drive
>>
>>52203080
i still know where my 64M one is, which i got 15 years ago
>>
>>52203735
They're $6 on amazon.

Only one. And I was a moron and it was my only backup of my school files (inventer, electricsim, whatever other file types I used in an engineering class).

Also irc logs.

I hope whoever found it all those years ago saw it was garbage, and deleted everything.

USB2

alright are usb3.0 drives actually faster or is it just bullshit? any benchmarks to back it up?

Here's sequential on the one I linked. Doesn't get the 20MB/s second writes advertised, but it gets the 40MB/s reads.
I don't know what's good for a flash drive.
>>
>>52203914

if you have a usb 3 drive
>>
>>52203914
I have a USB drive and USB port on my PC but Windows lies to me about the transfer speeds so I have no way of testing.

Thanks MS.
>>
>>52203985
Meant to say USB3 drive and port.
>>
>>52203080
those get thrown in the trash
>>
>>52203985
use a benchmarking program, they're designed to do syncronous operations (aka, they don't use the system cache), since it's the only way to get the real speed of a device
>>
I have only misplaced one. It was an ancient 1GB flash drive that only contained a few useless things. It's probably in the house somewhere.

I currently have a 16gb USB in my wallet that looks like a credit card.
>>
>>52203964
usb2 can do those speeds
>>
>>52203968

>8 dollars for bullshit slow shipping on amazon

yeah fuck that shit. still might get that exact flash drive when i order something else.
>>
>>52204089
I used http://usbflashspeed.com/ and averaged 16MB write and 30MB read.
>>
I've bought about 50 and lost 49

Though I've lost most of them in my house
>>
>>52203080
How many have you had go through the wash /g/?

Three, all survived.
>>
I lost one. I checked my university's lost and found the next day and it has been turned in. I had some important data from an experiment on it.
>>
>>52204620

>from an experiment

Was it a video of you and your dorm mates experimenting while Hatsune Miku plays in the backround
>>
>>52204641
Yeah!

No, it was actually the raw data from a chemistry lab. I'm not a very exciting person, sorry.
>>
>>52204683
i was going to say that next, honestly pham
>>
None!
>My furshit is safe
>>
>>52203096
You don't need one too though
>>
>>52204763
people don't need a lot of things, but they have them anyway.
>>
>>52204763
Actually I only use my flash drive for installing/ reinstalling operative systems or bootings things like Clonezilla or GPartedLive
>>
I thought I lost one once but it was just in the breast pocket of a jacket I never wear.
>>
>>52203964
>buying a slow piece of shit
Should've bought a sandisk extreme. 150MB/s sequential 1MB 4k.
>>
>>52203096
>he doesn't store them in his anus
>>
I've never lost a flash drive, but funny thing is I've found over 40 of them. I literally have a drawer full of them.

I guess I just find all the ones you guys lose.
>>
>>52203080
One. I have a nasty feeling that I left it in the back of a college campus computer.
>>
I lost one a while back that I had loads of JAV movies on. I hope whoever found it likes his 32GB of JAV.
>>
Mine go walkabout but I don't think I've lost one permanently.
Except for my first: a 64MB one I bought for high-school over a decade ago.
>>
I've lost around 60 so far

I take 1 gb drives and toss them in parks usually for people to find.

Some of them have 1gb of Pepe images. Some of them have 1gb of porn. Some of them have 1gb of 2chainz pictures. Some have 1gb of /b/ tier images. Just depends on what I feel like.

I might start including a text document with a throwaway email on it for people to email me when they find it
>>
>>52206823
Why?
>>
What's the consensus on any usbs? I just got a 32gb on at staples for 10 bucks
>>
>>52206864
I received a box of 500 1gb flash drives so why not?
>>
none

I think I lose them then I magically find them and the nostalgia hits hard when I view the contents
>>
2.

A 4 GB one and a 16 GB one.

Neither had important or unpacked shit, so it wasn't a big deal.
>>
about a dozen or so, mostly stolen, interestingly i've never lost an SD card, the thing is they're all broken, i have a box of everything from a standard SD 256MB one from school to a 64GB micro SDXC, all of them fucked.
>>
>>52206989
>I received a box of 500 1gb flash drives
how?
>>
>>52207265
Friend gave them to me
>>

PNY****

Damn phone spellchecked me
>>
>>52207440
>PNY
They are the only drives that I have had that outright failed on me or did not work out of the box.

They are also cheap enough that you can buy them in bulk so it's not a big issue though.
