By looking things up myself and trying them then hacking something together & reading more about that specific thing i'm doing, honestly that is what most people lack to look up stuff themself and shit.
I had serveral people in my old IT class asking me how to build AMD what are the best parts for a computer.
I've always hung around on forums/IRC and everyone always learned me to figure shit out myself because the internet has loads of information on it ( also books are good for learning )

I found out about it on 4chan and tried putting Linux on a spare PC at home. From there it was just learning one thing at a time as I ran into something that I couldn't do yet. Add in a couple of certs and some work experience and I have a career.
