For example, if I smoke in my room at my parent's house, you can be sure the nasty smell won't leave the place before a week or so. I had no problems like that with my old apartment, since 30minutes of open windows was enough.

My dad has a 20sqm living room. His couch is opposite from where the computer is, I really mean far far away from the cigarettes he smokes all day. Still there's a lot of residue and brown sticky dust all over the insides of the computer. Whenever I took it home for repair in the past MY room smelled like cigarettes for days.
These computer never broke from the cigarette smoke (other reasons/hardware failure because shitty old parts, the computer is only used very occasionally). But just consider that for resale value, cleaning, whatever you have.
