Is there a less-botnet version of the FB app for Android?
The official app is scary. So far I've just been using my mobile browser with SMS notifications, and it works okay, but the notifications are spotty and kinda annoying.
The FB API is open, right? I'm sure someone made a open source version of the app by now, I just can't find it.

Not sure if this is a legitimate concern but earlier I was having a conversation with someone about pitbulls around babies, she was worried about her grandson being around a friends pitbull puppy. 2 minutes later she's just browsing facebook and the first thing on her feed is a picture of a pitbull snuggling with a baby and the caption "wouldn't you let a pitbull lie with your baby?"
Is it possible that the "record audio" permission is used without your knowledge for this kind of shit or is it purely for when you actually physically record audio in the app? Could have been just coincidence but it was kind of creepy.
