How strudy are MacBooks? I own an HP Elitebook, and I travel often and use it "in terrain". The elitebooks have lots of dents and scratches, usually few milimeters in depth, but works 100%. Would a MacBook survive similiar treatment?
>>
I need a new notebook for general use like browsing, shitposting, webdev, watching videos.
Should I buy MBPro for 1300 euros or some cheap Asus for 550 euro?

My roommate's wife just bought a macbook not long ago. I couldn't convince her to get the windows laptop for $300 less that had better specs. Some people just can't be reasoned with and they'll go with the trendy shit because autisms. Can't say I'm surprised, she's a little retarded most times.

There's a high chance that Windows laptop has a shitter screen, trackpad, display, battery life, and build quality. All of which matter much more for the user experience
Specs matter for gaymen and you shouldn't be using a laptop for that
>>
>>52190849
Your a real fuckin genius anon, finding a pc with better specs than a macbook pro.

Not lagging.

I got a Yoga 3 14 (not the Pro) like 6 months ago and honestly I'm disappointed by the performance. Playing 4K vids in Youtube lags like shit and even when opening web pages they'll be unresponsive for a few seconds.
I've been using my mom's rMBP occasionally and it's much smoother overall.
Also I like the trackpad.
Also the teachers at uni are freetards and make us manipulate unix sockets in C and shit so Windows is useless in that regard and any Linux distro I tried rekt my Yoga's battery super fast.
>>
>>52190959
Well I study computer CS so it would be a good way to be able to program using C Unix system calls and such without having to go back to some shitty bloated Linux distro made by amateurs.
Obviously the main thing keeping me from getting a rMBP this very second is the price. I have the money but still it's seems excessively expensive.

Sometimes I really wonder why computer developers seem to be choosing the MAC.

I mean I would rather have the latest CPU and discrete GPU to lower my compile/build times than a high res screen.

I mean normally you get a big monitor at work to use so one is very rarely using ones laptop's screen. No matter what resolution, we all would rather work on a normal 22" wouldn't we?

I mean, the only MBP with a discrete card is almost or over 3000 depending on the market.

At that price you can get a Thinkpad P with Xeon (I'm guessing this level of processors can shave at least 20-30 seconds off compile time).

Or one of those 'gaming' rigs with a desktop class CPU.

I just dont get it.

Tried eating shit personally. Got some hands on with a Mac and really tried to justify the price tag, but couldn't.

The hardware is great. So are other options that are much cheaper. The only thing unmatched is the trackpad and that's not enough to justify such a crazy markup.

The OS is clunky by any standard; generally the same brain damage retardation as Windows, just in different aspects.

Unless you need a Mac specifically, just do your research and get a cheaper laptop with better specs. Specs aren't everything, but there's a point at which you need oerformance.

even be words best gpu and gpu can't stop osx from lagging. El Cap made it a lot better than lagsemite, but it still has plenty of stuttering on all hardware
>>

Mac OS X is proprietary, restrictive software built above FreeBSD (free software without copyleft). Ethically it's a problem, but the result is a very strong base.

If you've got the money for it and the expense won't impact the comfort of your life, just do it. If you've got to choose between, say a MacBook Pro and your holidays, the choice is yours. There is no good answer.

Anyway, I strongly recommend you to avoid Windows every time it's possible. You may learn to install and use some Linux distro on your free time, such as Archlinux with KDE Plasma (I'm talking about this because it's what I'm running, and I consider it's very satisfying).

If you want a cheap and good laptop, I suggest you to consider buying an IBM thinkpad (see >>>/g/tpg). If you can afford a MacBook and don't want to know how a computer works (you should, but you'll be able to install Linux on a MacBook later), buy a MacBook.

No, really. Thinkpads have come far in regards to display with the current lineup, battery life has always been up there with 9-cells, and internals have always been better than Apple's offerings.
They do use plastic casings, but unlike your XPS and Acer shit they're built like tanks.

All are good here, i have tried macbooks in the past, they are not bad at all its just the steep pricepoint and low specs really hits me.

Good 10/10 against macs
