Old deathaddr mouse wheel shit out on wednesday.
Got new deathaddr today.

Feels good man.

>>52185442
Friend had this pile of shit for about a month before it broke. Now he is rocking some logitech 502 and its fucking gay too. I guess if you make the mouse look super elite hax0r edgy, you'll get retards to buy trash.
>>
>>52185403
I owned one and it was alright. I felt like the clicks felt kinda weak all around.

I would say the best mouse I ever used was definitely the mx518. It was super durable. The deathadder I had started having issues after about 4 months and went bad after about a year and a half.

Logitech G700, best mouse, doesn't die in two years like every deathadder I've ever seen

OP here, that is the only problem I've had with the DeathAdder.

After 3 years they always go for me.

Its the only Razer product I am willing to buy anymore. I went Ducky at home and DAS at work for my keyboard after Razer decided Cherry switches weren't their thing anymore.

Good form factor but they are no longer manufactured. I mean the 2013 version that is superior. And no, chinese copies on aliexpress are fakes, just like the iem3.0

What you're saying is I should get a logitech?
>>

Chroma is great. I don't care for the lights much though.
>>
deathadder died and was looking to buy the new version, decided against it and got a zowie ec1-a. which was a great decision because the pads on the bottom are like 600% bigger than any of the razer mice.

My Chroma works perfectly, never had an issue with it (3 or 4 of my buddies have it too, no issues ever)

I had a deathadder but it shit itself within a year. Bought a steelseries sensai, that was good until it did the same about 7 months in. Recently got a castor (pic related) about 4 months ago and it is the best mouse i have ever used. Hope it continues to not fuck itself up.

fuck yes mx518. i am using one right fucking now. the speedholes make it go faster. i will suck logitech's dick all day long when it comes to the MX series mice. my first mx500 i ordered one and they charged me and sent me two. i said 'fuck it' and kept the second as a backup. years later my roof caved in under heavy rain and destroyed the first, and i just pulled the backup out and kept on truckin.

although i must say, fuck logitech's current driver/utility stuff. i have the +/- buttons above/below the wheel set to page up / page down but this stupid fucking software keeps resetting them to INCREASE/DECREASE DPI bullshit.

Why do they make them look like it's a piece of sheet metal that's been taped to a tank and taken to Afghanistan where it suffered multiple bullet dents, then removed from the tank and carefully bent into a mouse shape

It's so damn ugly
>>
I like the DA
Bought a 2013 almost 3 years ago and it was fine up until the left click broke when I was bringing it home from uni

>>
Come back in 5 months when it breaks. Then, get an imo 1.1a
>>
>>52186400
I'm not trying to sound old or anything, but 3 years is not acceptable for a $60+ product. These things are designed to break.
>>
>>52185403
Depends on what game you're playing. DA is a great mouse for FPS like Counter Strike GO or COD, however it sucks for Quakelive/UT where I found that using a WMO or an Abyssus was better. I also used the WMO for BF2 and CSS, and I find it's the best bang-for-your-buck mouse you can buy (optical sensor, overclockable to 1000hz, $10 bucks on ebay or alibaba).

For dota(mobas) in general I'd recommend something light with multiple buttons, so maybe a logitech g500 or mx518, something along those lines. The death adder is way too heavy for twitch response and fast movements, unless you replace your mousepad quarterly.

Steer way clear of memeseries gear in general, it always breaks or doesn't live up to the hype. I've tried Ikari laser, Optical, kinzu, kana, xai. All trash.

Even though I hate the feel of the scroll wheel the G400s has been an incredibly solid mouse.
>>
>>52186460
>I'm not trying to sound old or anything, but 3 years is not acceptable for a $60+ product.

(not that anon) i agree with you in principle, but i'm also not terribly offended. mice by default are the most physically abused part of a computer, imo it's not unreasonable that they would break faster than any other piece of the machine. especially if the user isn't particularly gentle and slams them down all the time or clicks extra hard when shit isn't responding. i've known reputable d-pad controllers to hold up for less than 3 years
>>
>>52186460
Then I don't understand
/g/ spends its time getting the best new phones and mechanical keyboards every 6-12 months but a 3 year life on a mouse is too short?
You know the mouse, where 90% of your interaction with a computer is, and it's somehow supposed to outlast the rest of the computer?
>>
>>52186338
I'll take that as a no.
>>
>>52186571
it also has not changed that much in 5-6 years. dpi goes up and buddy software gets shittier but we are past the golden era of mouses
>>
>>52186400
My Chroma last about a year.
I did manage to fix it by putting a tape at the end of the plunger, since apparently the cheap plastic got worn out over time
still, liking the rival a bit better, specially the left/right click switches, even though I like the DA look more.
>>
>>52186571
>You know the mouse, where 90% of your interaction with a computer is, and it's somehow supposed to outlast the rest of the computer?

it really depends on the mouse. a good basic mouse should last a fucking decade. hell, i own ancient apple ball mice from the 80s that still work. but a modern digital usb mouse with too many moving parts and a bunch of bullshit could easily give out within a couple of years.
>>
>>52186413
Hey dude, I think your keyboard is broken.
>>
>>52186571
>>52186522
Sorry, let me explain. Your DA is exactly the same problem as my DA, the sensor is fine, it's just the left mouse button that had gone wrong.

I took it apart to see why it does this - the mouse is made out of okay plastic, but the little rectangle stick thing that comes from the top of the mouse button to reach down to press the clicker, is made out of the softest plastic in the whole mouse. Putting tape on this to extend it that precious 2mm fixed it instantly, but again after 4 more months it eroded more. Why is the sensor good, and the whole mouse is made out of good plastic, but this particular piece is soft? you can see why I say they're "built to fail".

Every $5 piece of shit walmart or prebuilt-included mouse at school has lasted 15 years. When you pay $60 (and more for some of their other products), the entire mentality is you're getting the best of the best. What game, or gamer, doesn't click the mouse button a shitload?

I am a very light click and I went through two deathadders before I got sick of this BS and found an intellimouse which sports 90s plastic and is indestructible.

also it's probably too late if you threw it away but try to sell these to modders who are into plastic molding, they buy broken mice that have still good sensors exactly for this
>>
>>52186594
>>52186721
See! Two different models, same fucking soft plastic on the plunger/clicker on purpose. Fuuuuuck that shit.
>>
>>52186721
>>52186730
Yeah f am, did the exact same thing. I was having lots of double clicks and missing clicks, so I took apart the whole mouse, even disassembled the left click switch and cleaned it thoroughly, and it was apparently fine while testing it with the mouse open, but then when I put it back together it was still having issues, so I put a layer of electrical tape over the plastic plunger thing and it was fixed.

It sucks cause I really like the mouse, but for now I just got it on a drawer as a backup while I'm using a Rival, which is probably the closest mouse to a DA which you can get. I just hope it lasts longer.
>>
>>52186721
then maybe it's just DA's, or maybe you just got unlucky and got two defective models in a row. what i'm saying is i've never had a 'gaming' mouse fail for any reason other than extreme stress or exterior bullshit (it got wet) before it's expected lifetime. if the leftclick is failing then it's just bad luck or a bullshit product and it's time to switch brands
>>
my experience with 'gaming' mice

OCZ equalizer - Great mouse but had jitter issues

logitech g500 - Good mouse but the wheel made a floppy noise which i found distracting. got launched over a desk one day the cord wrapped around the edge and whacked the underside so hard it smashed to bits. good times

madcatz rat3 - no. we all have our phases....

cm storm spawn - great mouse. awesome. Gave it away i could not handle the perfection

logitech g700 - good enough. left click developed a double-click i was able to fix by taking apart the swicth and cleaning it/ bending the contacts back into place. retired from gaming

cm storm xornet - good mouse but i think i got drunk once and disassembled it cause i woke up and it was in parts and some were missing.

ss rival - sorta odd shape for my hand but i got used to it. great mouse but the rubber grip started to show ware right away and im through it completely now. had it less then a year
>>
>>52185403
Scroll wheel randomly scrolls up while scrolling down and visa versa. Its a common thing also. Purchased a chinese knockoff with just 14EUR inc. posting. Think this ones gonna last longer?
>>
>>52186809
I've already switched, but keep in mind that the separate 2 DA's were 8 months apart and from different sellers. you remind me of my old boss, I used to work at a mom and pop computer place and we had this piece of shit sata drive dock that was very old. We got 3 brand new drives in, these were sealed in the boxes, all from different stores in town, and every single one was dead after being in the dock for 5 minutes. That fucking dock killed them all, but the opposing opinion from him was we just happened to get 3 dead drives from totally random places. Mmm... how about no!

I also just noticed that the abbreviation, DA, is missing an O, to spell DOA. buuuuurn
>>
>>52185468
I just did the same, had my original deathadder for 3 years now a chroma - very much enjoy having a familiar feel

Got one at a thrift shop for a dollar a year ago.
The cord braiding was frayed but the cord itself was in perfect shape, and the mouse has not demonstrated any issues.

It's incredibly comfortable, but I find it's not as good as the Logitech G500 it replaced.

Very difficult to make comfy too. Putting your hand on it was more interesting than comfortable.

I think the shape and feeling in hand is GOAT.
However, I don't own one since it's too expensive for what it is, and I don't like when a brand's logo is used to justify a price raise.

Plus it's overkill for my needs. I don't gaymen so I'n fine with a 10yo mouse sensor and I couldn't care less iabout latency as long as it's under like 1/5 s.
Also, I don't like having my mouse glowing in the dark 'n' stuff.
