Daily Firefox shaming thread
Only thing that needs shaming is that fucking picture quality, dumbass.
>>52184586
Idiot.
ITT people so salty that they need daily reminder why they are salty
Still the best browser, sadly.

Chromium mustard race reporting in. Botnet free open source browser, so good that Lagfox wants to be a Chrome clone.
Does anyone else use iron? Or is that just really asking if you if you use chromium.
It was good until it tried to be Chrome v2.0. Still the best browser only because the others are shit.
Reminder that you should not be using Firefox right now as there is an unfixed, publicly disclosed 0day around.
POC: http://jsbin.com/gomozajige/1/edit?html,output
>>52185909
What is this supposed to do? The output only has "Firefox 43 Torpedo" and Firefox is still running fine.
>>52185909
And that was suposed to do what exactly? All I see is an unloaded image.
>pic related

Turn off NoScript or view the base64-encoded image directly.
>>52186027
Uh? I'm still not getting it.
>The image <b64_gibberish> can't be displayed because it contains errors.
Is this supposed to work on the latest Firefox stable release (v42.0)?
The world desperately needs a good browser. Free, open source, ad-busting, click-bait filtering, easy to use cookie settings, navigatable history and bookmarks. Who will rise to the challenge??
>>52186200
Fuck me, I meant v43.0.
>>52186224
It reliably crashed my Firefox 43 just a moment ago, but I can no longer reproduce it.
Long story short, there is an exploitable integer overflow in Firefox 43 right now. The bug on Mozilla's bug tracker isn't public, so I can't link to it.
>>52186240
>reliably
>can no longer reproduce
Hmm, ok.
If the bug is hidden maybe it's for precaution since that integer overflow might be able to be into something else (code injection).
Right now a somewhat functional DoS/crash (still can't get it to crash after a lot of tries) is just an anoyance.

>>52186240
I'm using FF 38 ESR so that is probably why I don't get the overflow.

Still the best browser. Show me a better brother, I'll gladly use it. I don't want to use firefox either, but there aren't any alternatives currently.

It's officially ogre.
>>52187074
Every browser which does not delete customization features out of the core, every browser which does not betray their users. Every browser wich has no Botnet.
There are quite many. Liri Browser, Centbrowser, Vivaldi Browser, Otter Browser. Qupzilla, Midori, Qutebrowser and many many more.

I really like that comment of that guy here from that article:
>And so it begins. Now Mozilla is heavily running into website compatibility problems, same like Opera, but for a different reason. And we have seen what the end outcome was in the end. In a Webkit dominated web it becomes harder and harder to support your own product if you are not going down the road to support that specific Webkit drafts. And the more market share Firefox is losing, the more it loses relevance for website developers and is forced to go down even more the road of supporting Webkit draft after Webkit draft. The race to the utter bottom has become. But it was unavoidable that that was happening sooner or later.
>>52187772
now these sites have even less incentive to not use -webkit-prefixes anymore.
I'm just going to write my own web browser, I have no idea why the people that get into a job at Mozilla are so fucking stupid.
>"lets be the definition of scope creep"
>"needs some more bloat and opt-out trash"
>"better use these funds to get trigger words out of the source code"
People want a wb browser not fucking FirefoxOS, firefox is becoming the emacs of browsers.
>>52187074
I hope Eich makes a new internet browser.
He's doing something related to browsers at his startup if you follow his twitter.
Slimjet anyone?

Master race.

>crashes twice a day
>hangs for several seconds when opening random links in new tabs
>resets extension icons in the top right corner on exit
>2 week review time for extension updates which means 2 weeks of an extension not working if a bug is discovered today
mozilla also donated 15000 USD to someone who removed the word "slave" from the firefox documentation and then they beg for more money because they spent all they had on bullshit like the example here
whenever I open youtube on firefox on my tablet, it crashes
opens perfectly fine with chrome or edge
no addons on any of them
>>52191785
you're right its not a skin.. its just a different icon
>>52192231
No they didn't. They awarded $15000 to Buildbot because they've used Buildbot for years. This payment is not a work for hire.
>>52192412
It's not. It's without the bloat, telemetry and favouring open software. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mozilla_Corporation_software_rebranded_by_the_Debian_project
>>52192494
Iceweasel is a straight fork of Firefox. The only thing it adds are security updates for outdated versions.
>>52185909
>>52186240
Shit, I ran that and it closed my browser.
>>52192545
It's not just that. Don't confuse Mozilla's Firefox ESR with Debian's Iceweasel.

I just tried to install icecat because firefox is too shit these days
everytime I open it I get a weird error, followed by it crashing(process:32088): GLib-CRITICAL **: g_slice_set_config: assertion 'sys_page_size == 0' failed
maybe this needs to be compiled with gcc instead of gcc-multilib because it worked on my laptop that has the exact same glib versions
why is Yahoo my default search? I haven't installed anything in days and didn't change anything yet I'm stuck with this garbage. I already refreshed firefox and less than 24 hours later Yahoo is back
>>52194368
Make sure it's able to write to your .cache directory in your home folder.
>>52195195
oh thanks, that did it
now all that's missing is the loop-symbol while loading websites[CustomizableUI]
Custom widget with id loop-button does not return a valid node
Is there any way to get this back? Or why does icecat remove it?
>>52186733
And yet I'm unable to crash either the browser or the OS with the mentioned exploit. Isn't it funny?
>:^)
>>52195259
>why does icecat remove it?
botnet
>>52195550
I just realized after posting that there's a thing called loop in firefox
what I meant was the orange spinning loop symbol while loading websites
>>52195735
customize -> activity indicator?
>>52195979
it's not in there
I found this: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=199692
seems to be a nullpointer error that can't be fixed until someone really bothers with it
