It's so loud and obnoxious.

so what are you looking to achieve with this thread?

I accidentally "turbo-boosted" my 4790k to 4.4ghz and my machine sounded like an engine. With water-cooling.

I am almost certain that only 12 year olds overclock now.

Get quality case fan that are not obnoxious, buy a something with 6 or more cores like a 5820k with a low out of box clock. Now when you over clock it you get to have more then enough performance for gaming and productivity for a good value and you have a quite machine because you did not use those 5 cents a piece fans that came with your case.

Then why did you buy an unlocked CPU and an overclocking mobo?

I have my AMD HOUSEFIRE 8320 at 4.5, and the hard drive is usually the loudest part of my computer with 4 fans and a H100i.

Better performance at the cost of more heat generation and a small increase in power consumption.

Though overclocking is only worth it if you are able to push your CPU at least 400 MHz past its max stock frequency to see at least 10% better performance improvement.

>the hard drive is usually the loudest part of my computer

harddrives are pretty fucking loud.

That literally means nothing.

Hard drives are only loud if you're spinning up an ancient 20MB SCSI.

At the worst, it's just faint, ambient whirrs and clicks.

why do people tune their cars?
why do people mod their guitars?
why so people do anything?

it's called having a hobby. It means you're interested in something so you play with it.

god

any 10 or 15K drive is loud. even still.
>>
>>52184223
taking the bait this hard
>>
>>52184257
you can call it what you want but OP is a technophobe
>>
>have e5400 cpu from years ago
>overlocked it from 2.7GHz to 3.7Ghz
>still runs everything smoothly

why not?
>>
great meme friend
>>
>have pentium g3258
>overclocked from 3.2 ghz to 5 ghz
>no sound difference
Get a better processor not made for making housefires and then we can talk, mmkay?
>>
Because the FX series CPUs are fucking shit at stock speeds. They're not as shit once you hit 4.5GHz+.
