because $1000 is the min spec sp4 and I managed to get a much more powerful but bulky laptop, a small w10 tablet with office, extra ram for laptop and desktop, and a bunch of peripherals for them all, for less money. the only thing I'm missing is digitizer support which i don't need.

Basically because tablets aren't thinkpads and I love my T520. I'll probably replace it with an X1 Carbon or W series when/if it ever dies.
Honestly, I find the whole tablet form factor to be uncomfortable. I've tried using one, and it just didn't work out, both because I hate touchscreens, and I hate moving my hands away from the keyboard to use a shitty trackpad. It is for this reason that I will never willingly use a laptop that isn't a Thinkpad.

I had a top of the line i7 surface pro 3 back then. It was nice but not worth the coin imo. The screen was cool but the graphics were just okay, and the keyboard and trackpad was horrible
ended up getting a 13in sager laptop for much cheaper, little bigger, muhc better specs.
occasionally miss the surface tho

My favorite thing about it is the heat is all in the screen so you won't burn your crotch or choke off airflow and ventilation.
This is also a strong weakness since that results in pathetic battery life in tablet mode.
Are we on the cusp of any big battery chemistry improvements? An alternative improvement could be massive quick charge capacitors in the keyboard so you could dock, quick charge, and go back to tablet mode.
The concept is fantastic, but I feel the technology isn't there yet.

I bought the i5 Model, it was the fucking stupidest piece of shit I've ever bought and i returned it.
The fan DIDNT FUCKING STOP once i had more than one simple task going, it sat at like 75*C.
The keyboard was buggy. In fact, the damn thing wouldn't boot half the time if the keyboard was connected to the surface.
The pen was unresponsive and the pressure levels bounced all over the place.
And it cost a fucking FORTUNE. Until microsoft fixes their damn product, i'm not buying it again.
