Year of the Linux Desktop

You have 10 seconds to name ONE linux desktop distribution that can actually be used as an enterprise desktop OS.

>actual installer that isn't complete shit and trainable to tier 1 techs fresh out of high school
>actual installer that doesn't shit itself and crap out at the slightest tiny problem
>proper repository that isn't freetard trash and actually has usable software necessary for office use that can also be installed and fixed by tier 2 techs
>proper office suite
>integrated mail client / calendar
>enterprise management tools
>enterprise update management
>updates that don't break the entire system and run the company into the ground overnight
>defaults to and built around KDE or some other Windows GUI clone because lets face it, nobody has the time nor patience to retrain every fucking employee from the warehouse pullers to the accountants on how to use GNOME or whatever art paradigm design language bullshit some hipster designer is into at the time
>compatibility with no bullshit on whatever flashy brand new bleeding edge turd the CEO decides to buy for checking his emails (cool guy but can't tell the difference between a wifi adapter and usb drive)
>has actual support and longevity and isn't a hobby project that will die if some neckbeard chokes on a burrito in his mom's basement

Happy New Year /g/.

Ubuntu has been a viable replacement for years now

The only thinking keeping it out is MS being a douchebag company and strong-arming Windows onto every computer in the universe.

Damn. Even Win 10 can't do all this shit properly. Definitely not OSX. OP, the OS you seek does not exist.

It comes down to the oligopoly of manufacturers and microsoft. If Linux and LibreOffice were in circulation, people would be familiar with their interface, you won't need training.

By the way, most of the operational and administrative staff especially women in the organizations here have to be trained to use MS Office and other in house software.

I had to train several people in my office on how to use Excel and Word for book keeping and invoices. It comes down to fear and uncertainty that people have about open source software even though it has similar functionality.

Large companies generally prefer to hire people that already have skills they need rather than train whatever people they can lure in from their $20 CL posting with half the necessary qualifications.

You would be surprised that in most 3rd world countries and even parts of US, there are people who don't know shit about computers.

The staff in 3rd world countries actually go on strike when they want to computerize the operations. They still use journals and hand written pages for book keeping and transactions.

The mentioning of it being in 14.04 was said after I deciding to wait for 16.04, I was giving reasons why I am waiting. It's my fault for causing it, I should give full explanation to my reasoning instead of giving the minimal.
>>52168752
Responding about the last quoted post, it is usuable but a new LTS version will be released which means many people will upgrade as 14.04 reaches the end of the cycle. I don't see a reason to use 14.04 especially if it's for my own learning.

Canonical are fucking retards.

W8 literally put MS on the ropes and freetards just went on a field day with all kinds of bullshit new GUI designs trying to lure people away from Windows when all everyone wanted was just a simple fucking start menu in the lower right corner to open up IE/FF/Chrome.

Linux had one real chance at the desktop and just threw it away, and it'll never happen again after they gave MS an entire 3 years to bring back every user they lost with W10 marketing/review shilling.

Any Linux distro with an open source browser that supports HTML5. That's where the office and mail tools should be already, and they are.

Why do you even need a laptop if you're too poor (as in no job) to afford one that can run Windows?
>>
CentOS , Redhat enterprise?

roll your own distro for the feaures you need.

if you can't do that, there's always RHEL and windows.
