I really want to start programming. It seems sick and all, but I'm scared to venture into the complex world of programming. Does anyone know what language could be the easiest to learn, and then branch out to other languages with more ease?

Are you good at maths? Have background in maths? Willing to learn multiple languages and have a good memory?
