Do I know whether it's actually 24.7957mm long? No, because I haven't measured it to that level of precision, but I could. The same thing applies to fractions, if you can only measure something down to 1/16th of an inch then you cannot say for certain that something is 9/16ths and not 19/32nds.
Now, if we're talking about non-physical things then we can be certain that a decimal result is 100% correct.

I migrated my already half-finished master thesis to LaTeX cause Word was such a pile of shit. TeX basically improved anything about the resulting paper, from a vastly improved layout and type setting, to reduced maintenance effort for auto generated content like bibliographies, references and captions. There's also much wider support for anything related to research, especially when its about math formulas or drawings related to specific fields like chemical reactions.
There is exactly no reason to use Word for something like this, you will only end up doing more work just to appease muh "industry standard" of tech illiterates. I actually regret that I let any of you tards convince me of starting out writing this thing with Word, what a huge waste of time.
