This morning my alarm clock didn't ring due to my iPhone & Stained Macbook Pro Retina batteries being completely empty.

As if being late wasn't causing enough trouble in my life; while trouble shooting the problem Apple crapware tried to kill me.

So how is your day going /g/ ?

Here from another angle.

Two metal pins sticking out of a 240 volt power socket = enough to kill you.

>>

>sue apple
>get paid

Informing people is my first priority.
Created a thread on the Apple forum.
https://discussions.apple.com/message/29543301#29543301

I'm not that litigious; the ball is now in Apple's court; if Apple doesn't start to inform people interested pro bono attorneys can always contact me here or at the Apple forum. Would rather not see other people have to go through the things that i had to go through.
>>
>>52127578
Knowing Apple they'll probably Sue YOU for slander.
>>
LOL

That's what you get for using those retarded Yuroshit plugs.
>>
>>52126820
>>52126751
But does 240V actually kill though? What's the current running through it? I get shocked by 110V like every other week and I don't even give a fuck at this point. It's a good way to wake up in the morning at work.
>>
>>52127794

13/16a probably

it's not necessarily always going to result in death but yeah, it definitely has the potential for it
>>
>>52127655
>>52127655

It wouldn't be slander but libel, slander is oral, libel is written. Oh and they will have to prove that what was written about them is untrue.
>>
>>52127794
No it's perfectly safe and nobody has ever died from it, you should stick a fork in a socket to see for yourself.
>>
>>52127926
>it's not necessarily always going to result in death but yeah, it definitely has the potential for it

On the apple forum someone already clicked the "i have this problem too button"

Scary to think how many million of these power bricks have been sold.
>>
>>52127794
A shock usually doesn't unless you're toddler, elderly, of weak heart or otherwise in poor health. And by "shock" I mean the situation when you flinch at the contact and disconnect yourself from the circuit.
But of course if you stay in the circuit for more than a moment (tangled live wires, hairdryer in the bath, etc.), you're shit out of luck and die without immediate medical care (and sometimes even with it).
>>
>>52127943
>No it's perfectly safe and nobody has ever died from it, you should stick a fork in a socket to see for yourself.

"The truth is over 90% of the deaths that result from electrocution happen in residential homes"

90% of statistics are bullshit, link to real government statistics on residential electrocution would be appreciated.
>>
>>52128119

> And by "shock" I mean the situation when you flinch at the contact and disconnect yourself from the circuit.

Don't think time matters that much; what seems to be important is:

- The path that the current take trough the body.
- The amount of current that go through the body.
- The resistance of your skin
- The amount of voltage (have to be enough to overcome the body’s resistance)

( based on http://www.electricianshangout.com/can-i-be-killed-by-110-volts/ )

it is current that kills, but voltage over 200V can eaisly break skin and it all goes through the internal organs
>>
Toppest kek.

Fuck Apple.
>>
>>52128558
Pretty sure it's electrical power that kills, which is Current X Voltage. Having 1,000A with .1V will probably not do much to a person.

>>52128753
you're retarded right? I said power. P=IV.

2V*900A = 1800J, which is pretty fucking high

let's say you're using 100V at home, where a max of 15A is going to the room. A single shock at 100V*15A = 1500J, which is okay with a non-lethal path and short duration, but of course pushing 1500J for a whole minute will be enough to fry your brains out.

Are you people seriously this dumb or are you trolling? Do you not realize resistance and voltage are what allow for current? Low resistance = high current, high voltage = high current. You cannot have dangerous current without one of those two things.

Huh. I always thought europlugs consisted of solid rubber/plastic molded around the pins, and not just a thin-ass plastic cylinder with a glued on lid. Is this just Apple cheaping out as usual or are all europlugs actually like this? I thought the extra insulation is what made them legal to sell without grounding.

My lab security lecture said something like 25V is the cutoff for fatality, however it generally depends on multiple factors.

Direct or alternating current, does the current go through your appendages or through internal organs, how big is your skin's resitance, do your muscles cramp or do you let go of the source etc.

I wouldn't touch an open socket desu
>>
>>52129430
Pls, who is that?
>>
>>52129753
Voltage doesn't matter when it come to fatality.
Although you do need enough voltage to overcome the human body's internal resistance. Once you do that you need current.

The muscles contract at 10-15 mA.
There should be a breaker to prevent this type of shock.
Having a device that breaks is always a bad thing. I don't think it is something that is easily fixed.
In an ideal world, the power should be turned off as soon as a device breaks.
But I guess it doesn't happen often enough, so people can just do that manually.

Nope, it's amps
Electric fences are high voltage, low amp because it hurts like a bitch but doesn't do any lasting damage.
Otherwise, I'm pretty sure we would have dead sheep left and right.
But like others have said, nothing can protect you from a weak heart or long-term internal damage--fun fact: people who get struck by lightning typically live shorter lives because of internal damage, ie. cooking your fucking organs from the electrical resistance and heat created from the lightning.
>>
>>52130053
>Voltage doesn't matter when it come to fatality.
That's a rather ignorant thing to say. A 1V 1000000000A power supply would do absolutely nothing to you unless you jammed it straight into your heart because it could never overcome skin resistance, you literally wouldn't even feel anything. A 200V 0.5A power supply on the other hand would easily kill you.

Norwegian electrician here. Anything over 50V is officially considered unsafe, although aslong as you just get shoched through your finger, I wouldn't be too worried. Its first when both your hands or some other place on your body gets shocked, I'd consider going into the hospital to get a quick check. If this has happened to you in the past, not going to get checked would be a health risk.

the resistance actually stays the same, it's independent from voltage. what changes proportional by increasing voltage is the current that runs through.

of course you can say it's the current that kills you, but the fatal current can only run through you if the voltage is high enough (remember from school? current = voltage / resistance). as someone said before, anything under 50VAC and 70VDC is not considered seriously dangerous. alternate current is rated lower because it's frequently peaking.
