Steelseries guy here,

Fine, you win, I asked to cancel my order.

Are any of these worth it, since apparently Sennheiser is the meme brand here?

Are the AD700s generally considered fatiguing headphones? After listening to music for only about an hour with them, I find that I get really tired of it and need a break. This doesn't happen for me with the Apple earbuds, which I can listen to for hours on end.

keep clear of gaming headsets.
Trust me, youre better off buying a set of normal headphones and an external mic.
If for example you can buy something that uses a 3.5mm detachable cable and stick a boompro in it (pic related).

>>
>>52116219
It's an open headphone which means it leaks sound, everyone will be able to hear what you're listening to. It however is better at closed headphones in everything except bloated bass which a lot of people like. It's also better for gaming in terms of pinpointing what direction something is coming from.

People recommend that the HD558 with a foam mod will make it sound near identical to the HD598 if you want to go cheaper. I'm not sure which is of better build quality though.
>>
>>52116152
>DT770
Thanks!

Do the 32/80 ohm editions require an AMP? Or no?
>>
>>52116315
I'd go with the 32 if you want to power it off your phone, however you'll be missing the velour earpads of the 80 ohm version.
>>
>>52116310
Will the sound leak decrease the quality. I can care less if little bit of sound because, this is going to be used mainly for my computer with a condenser microphone due to my sound system for it is consist of 4 bookshelf speakers and a bass that is the size of pre built computer
>>
>>52116348
How about if I primarily use it with TV/PC? 80 ohms would be fine there?
>>
>>52116388
The microphone may pick up what's comin' out of the headphone. Sound leak won't decrease the sound quality of your headphones though. Closed headphones tend to sound more congested because sound has trouble escaping.

PC, also guitar amp. This one is a biggie because half of the time I'll be using these headphones will be in an amp. The rest listening to music on computer.

>preferred size
Full sized

>open or closed
Closed preferred, but if open is better for my kind of music and guitar playing then I can live with open

>comfort
Goes without saying as comfy as possible, but again if sound quality would be better then I'll accept less comfort (side note, if plugged into guitar amp then I will need a bit longer cord, unless you can also suggest a headphone extender or something to help)

>preferred music type
85% heavy metal (80s metal, alternative, metalcore, djent, grind core, very guitar oriented as I've stated above. Double bass drums might be only thing bassy)
10% rap (odd future, riffraff, shitty shit)
5% folk (Mumford and sons, etc)

>past headphones
This would be my first big headphone purchase. Previous ones- turtle beaches, random earbuds, nothing over $20. So basically nothing.

so far amazing...can't wait till they burn in if that concept actually is real

you can easily determine the location of a sound relative to the microphone (i know the term, i just don't want a bunch of shitposters saying that it isn't real.....i haven't frequented these threads for a couple years so I'm behind on the current trends so If that doesn't happen anymore then sorry I guess)

bass is pretty dank but not completely nigger unless you are one of those staxfags

TLDR, everything in the innerfidelity review is correct

still gotta compare between it and my set of pc360's (basically just an hd5xx with a microphone attached) that are on it's last legs because snapheiser was surprisingly not just a meme

according to both Innerfidelity and Headphones, K702 has better low-bass. Also the square waves responses from both >>52118329 and Innerfidelity show that rolling-off bass concerns the HD600 more than the K702. I don't know dude, looking at graphs on different websites, the HD600 doesn't look better than K702 at all.

They are both very good, but they don't sound similar at all.
Both are sort-of neutral, but k702 is much brighter while HD600 is warmer, their stage is much different too, although that can't be measured yet, but you can test it for yourself for that.

Does anyone have a list of recommended open headphones under 200$?
>>
>>52118329
>>52118517
>square waves response
Irrelevant. A square wave is made from a superposition of a fundamental tone and its odd ordered multiples. It doesn't show anything highlighted better by other methods.
Most things do have better bass extension than HD 600.

>>52118478
No.
702 is not no bass, nor does it sound that bright.
>>
>>52118329
>>52118396
Because it's the most accurate headphone on the diffuse field target in production excluding in-ear monitors. Also comfy and shit, well documented. Square wave is a rather useless measurement especially since you have the frequency response right there already.
>>
>>52117836
The guy was right. You'll want to have accurate response but past that point it doesn't have any impact on positional accuracy. Accurate response just makes sure that you hear everything. Headphones with more open sound or "headstage" might be more immersive but I don't see how they could benefit you in any way in a video game. It's almost entirely just the skill of knowing how to listen and what to listen in games so play more and get good.
>>
So I brought up in a previous thread that I was interested in getting a pair of Noble K10s. Someone replied saying they were trash. Any other opinions?

Plugging earbuds into your computer without turning the volume down can be like firing off a shotgun in a small soundproof room.

That's the thing, there isn't much to it. Reverb decay is fast and delay is short, crosstalk is low even with open headphones. The biggest discriminator is in frequency response.

Posting here because it's related to headphones.
I have a pair of Wharfedale Diamond 1s, connected to a shitty Yamaha amp.

The left speaker's main driver (the tweeter works fine) only works when the music's pretty loud and then works even when I decrease the volume.
However, if I put my finger on the driver it stops working very easily, while if I touch the right speaker's driver it continues vibrating.

How do I fix this?

How does /hpg/ acquire their music? My method is to download it from youtube, anyone know the best way to do this?

right away. i had went from some mdr-xd300 which never sounded that great to me, and theyre probably not (never seen measurements), its just my gf got them for me. i had always used a desktop mic but decided one day id try out a headset for convenience.

i was blown away by how shitty it sounded. i honestly had thought i got a bad pair, so i returned them for the same thing, and it sounded the same. baffled, i went back and bought a different headset, only to come home to find out they also sounded like shit, but differently.

at this point, i started to really get curious. so i went back and just kept coming home with another different headset, only for all of them to literally sound like trash. i started to wonder if i was crazy, but i knew i wasnt... i had been comparing them to my MDR's the whole time, and i had tried every usb and 3.5mm headset under the sun.

so, i did some research, and ended up getting some dt880s. needless to say, they sounded amazing. its not a meme - headsets are all garbage. all of them.

You got me again internet. Might sell both and go for the ad900x.

Isn't it only like 120kbps mp3?

If you're going to steal music, then just torrent 320kbps or flac albums.
>>
>>52124831
What is it that makes them better? Or is it just a case of AKG>Audio Technica
>>
>>52124971

*Meant 128kbps
>>
>>52124971
...no. they use aac and opus at ridiculous bitrates depending on the resolution of the video. of course, this doesnt guarantee that they didnt start off with a shit source when uploading, but official channels are almost always fine

I think your ears are gone if you regularly listen to music with max out everything and it still isn't loud enough.
>>
>>52125032
and nowhere did i say that i listen to loud music, or have an amp. and turns out: i dont. who would have thought it

Spotify, what.cd, Nyaa, Bandcamp, artists' own sites, webshops, CD rips.

Never download from YouTube.

So converting music from youtube using official channels is a good way of doing it?

you dont even know what words youre supposed to be using man. but yes, downloading music from youtube is fine. note that some of them might artificially make the sound shit just so they can try to sell you a better copy. in this case, try to get it off thepiratebay or something
>>
Is there something with a similar sound quality to the X2s in the same price range, but that are actually comfortable to wear and have mids that don't sound miles away?

I like the sound these have, but between the QC problems, the mids, and getting a headache from wearing them, it just isn't enjoyable.

Relax buddy, just poking fun at the people who swear by $200 O2/ODAC setups for their DT990s, I think it's life threatening. Thought an amp is comparable to phantom power for microphones.

Fuck me I might be getting my words mixed up here. When I said dowloading I meant converting youtube vids using flvto or something similar then dowloading from there. Were you talking about something different?
>>
>>52125227
... and what exactly do you think phantom power does....? and how do you know they dont have the 600ohm dt990? those most certainly need an amp

>>52125250
i wore them for 16 hours at a time. i didnt itch, and my the top of my head never hurt. it was kind of hard finding the exact spot to put them over my ears, though

>>52125273
im going to cry myself to death with you people
you are downloading a file from youtube. it will have video at first, but then you would be demuxing the audio out of it. converting would imply that you are re-encoding it to another format which would never be a good idea

someone kill me, pleas
>>
>>52125250
Itchy earpads? Their velour you fucker.
Also the headband even barely weighs down on you. For certain way more comfier (and sturdierl) than Beyers remorse or Clampheiser
>>
>>52125250
> itchy earpads
I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one finding this fact a bit annoying. Not just this, but also the large weight of the X2 make them pretty uncomfortable imo. I guess that these headphones are more comfortable for people with large heads.
>>
>>52125316

yes. you guys are probably manlets
>>

I'm not the guy you're replying to, but are you seriously trying to tell me that you don't know that music downloaders from YT always convert the audio into a specific audio format?
>>
>>52125357
i do know that. and i also know that the people using these converters are retarded. why re-encode your audio? your pc is perfectly able to play it back to matter what it is originally
>>
>>52125335
>>>>>> /soc/
>>
>>52125393
ive heard all kinds of ridiculous complaints from the x2, like peoples NECKS HURTING. seriously, how WEAK are you people???? you MUST be a manlet, theres no other explanation
>>
>>52125387
>why re-encode your audio?
maybe because there's no other way to download music from yt?
>>
>>52125316
Nah, my head is pretty large and it's pretty heavy on my head.
If I find the right spot for them to sit on my ears it's more comfortable on my head, but then it feels weird on my ears because the earpads are uneven. Thanks quality control!

>>52125308
I don't care what they are. They're itchy and I haven't had this problem on any other pair of headphones.
>>
>>52125419
listen, its quite obvious you dont know how any of this works. even when youre just regularly using youtube on your browser, its simply downloading the file and playing it back in the window. its not like streaming is fucking magic or something. it just makes the download, splitting, and playback of it transparent to the user. also the later deletion of it, depending on settings.

so, downloading it in turn, is exactly the same thing, only you know where the file is. if what you were saying made sense, how would the browser get it in the first place? like its some super secret code snippet that youtube only shares with browsers? lol fuck
>>
>>52125478
Actually nvm I know why they're itchy. The pads definitely aren't velour.
>>
>>52125412

on my ears sit the 400i currently. not sure if that was aimed at me or what... it would be quite the assumption

you guys are very good at random assumption though, so i wont put it past you. but i do agree, comfort on them is amazing

i have a system currently where i use the program here
http://rg3.github.io/youtube-dl/download.html
with the addon here
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/open-with/
to pass specific arguments to it with a right click context menu in firefox.

using openwith to pass youtube-dl.exe the argument "-f bestaudio/best -o "C:\\ytdl\%(title)s.%(ext)s" means i can simply go to a youtube, right click anywhere on the page, and start a download for only the music of that youtube in its original quality

for how strange this may seem, I also have the same feeling. Do your X2 have glued earpads?
>>
>>52125728
Yeah.
>>
>>52125781
Mine too. I guess this is also due to poor QC from Philips. If I'm not wrong, some other people have reported that the material of the earpads is itchy for them.
>>
>>52125870
Yeah. It's really a shame. I'll have to check these out when they get their shit together.
>>
>>52125898
I'm getting different headphones in few days. If I like them better than the X2, I'll probably return the X2 back to Amazon. My pair of X2 is defective after all, then it shouldn't be a problem to get the full refund from Amazon.
