Hi folks. My HDD is dying (I am currently on a public library computer) so I have decided to upgrade to a SSD. However after some very basic research it seems its not as simple as with HDDs and so I am completely lost.

I was looking at the Samsung 850 EVO but read all sorts of horror stories with the 840 so am a little cautious. I have even read your motherboard has to be compatible with the SSD so I am a little out of my area of knowledge. If someone could recommend a good SSD, say 250GB at a reasonable price I would greatly appreciate it. I will only really be using it for windows and games as I have a few backup HDDs for storage.

This is the site I am using to compare prices so am looking at around the $160-200 NZD mark.

http://pricespy.co.nz/product.php?p=2880218

My specs are:
Intel Core i5 3570 3.4 GHz Processor Socket 1155(6MB L3 Cache)

Asus P8Z77-V LK Intel Z77 ATX Ivy Bridge Socket 1155 4x DDR3 PCI-E3.0 RAID CrossFireX SLI USB3.0 SATA3 Onboard VGA/DVI/HDMI/DisplayPort

2 x Transcend 8GB DDR3-1600 Ram

Thank you.

Yeah, avoid the most popular SSD because a different version had issues.

The 850's are fine. As are the SanDisk Ultra 2's. You're over thinking it, OP.

Where can I solicit that lewd computer. I want to run inefficient code on that dirty slut.

Yeah I know, I did however check a few sites and people were still concerned over the TCL(?) software. Also it does not show up on many sites "best SSD" lists.
So like I said, I know jack all about SSDs and am on a public library computer which limits my time.

If you guys say its good then sweet, I just dont wanna waste money on something without knowing anything about it.
