Should I upgrade my CPU or my graphics card?

I'm using an i5 quadcore at 3.4ghz per core, and a 7870 2gb Tahiti LE super wanker something or other at roughly 1130mhz clock speed

The GPU is rather potent for 1080p gaymen but its rather loud and runs somewhat hot

Having a hard time picking out what TV to buy, got a 500-600 euro budget and looking for a 1080p 40inch+

TV will mostly be used for watching TV shows and movies, will also be buying a PS4 for my sibling as they stay at my house when they're finished school for a few hours.

Any recommendations or what to look for specifically? Goggling around only find me shilled reviews with very little comparison.

It seems quite good but I don't know if I should swap it for a Thinkpad T430 (£250). It'd be a hassle, want to know if it'd worth it or if this is fine. I also don't know if I should trust something from eBay without a warranty.

i just got 4 random emails from yahoo japan. entirely in moonrunes except the parts that show my email address. the first email looks sort of like a sign up email would for a forum or something where you click a random link. now, i've never had yahoo. the account in question is my gmail for my phone, which i use literally only for my phone. its not a personal email and ive never signed up for anything with this one. its literally only for my phone. i changed my pw from my comp and immediately got notified on my phone that i had logged in from my comp. so if that was set to do that, if someone else had logged in id get a notification right? so i just marked them as spam and changed my pw, am i safe? why was my random ass account that i never use for anything targeted?

i'd still recommend dual-booting w10 and GNU/Linux though. if you can read a manual you could also use w10 in a vm inside GNU/Linux and do a gpu passthrough. the 4460 supports vt-d so it should work. other than the spying, the "suggestions" and the BSODs from time to time win10 isn't too bad. >>52052529

I know about the gpu passthrough thing but I just happen to have a specific set of hardware that would be terrible for it.

Basically, my motherboard has only a VGA port and my monitor has a native resolution of 2560x1080 which ain't supported by that (and would require an adapter anyways). It also has only one PCIe x16 port. In order to do that I only have three options:

1. Buy a new gpu exclusively for linux (a really low profile gpu that doesn't require anything but a PCIe 2x port)

2. Plug an older monitor (1680x1050@120hz) and use it with linux, while using my newer ultrawide monitor with that VM. It feels weird to use linux as host with an inferior monitor.

3. Buy a new motherboard. This was an oversight on my part to be fair.

/g/ I need tech support help on Windows tablets/laptops

I've currently got an Asus T100, it's a tablet, has an Intel Atom processor and for a while I've pretty much been using it as my primary device. I'm on a Computing/Engineering course though and think it's time to upgrade to something that will hopefully suffice for that course and handle more intensive tasks as well as some vidya, even if it is on lower settings. Most of the time I'll probably just be using it casually but I'm hoping for something that will suffice for the next few years. I'm really hoping for a new device rather than used/refurbished.

My budget is probably around £600, but I've been out of the tablet and latop loop for so long I really don't know where to look. Ideally I'd want something around 13" but no smaller than 10.1" and fanless, because I've grown accustomed to a small form factor and it'd be nice if it functioned as a tablet as well

I've had a look at the Asus T300 Chi and it seems pretty damn good, but the reportedly poor battery life (I'd prefer around 7 or 8 hours at least) and lack of a proper USB port put me off. I'd be fine with something like the Lenovo Yoga, but I just don't know what's what. The Pro 2 is pretty expensive and I've seen some say the 300 isn't really capable of much outside casual use. I had a look at the Yoga 700 11.6" but reviews are pretty non existent so I've no real idea on it's capability

Any help?

TL;DR want a capable 2 in 1 Windows machine/ultrabook for around £600 with decent battery life

I need your help with this:

I want to connect my existing Creative speaker system (very old, subwoofer + 2 smaller speakers) with my rarely used JVC ux-g37.
(To play music over this system from my home server)

What would be the most efficient way to connect these two? Like, do I have to plug in the base of the stereo? Or can I wire the speakers just by themselves?

Also, how would you rate this system quality-wise?

Thanks, waiting for your suggestions

Alright, I have a question regarding SLI. As we know, not many games use SLI efficiently, some even working worse with more than one. However, I've also read that, at least as of 2013, having a dedicated PhysX card can help, especially if the game in question has poor SLI support (like Arkham Knight).

So, let's say that I had money to blow, and bought two 980 TIs. And let's suppose I want to use them in SLI for game X, which it benefits from, and use them as one main GPU and one PhysX GPU in game Y. Can this be done on a game to game basis? Can I keep the SLI bridge connected, or must it be disconnected first? I understand that few games support SLI, and few games are plugged to the ass with PhysX, but this is just a potential scenario.

Well, I'm going by this, which says it's a case by case situation.

http://www.volnapc.com/all-posts/how-much-difference-does-a-dedicated-physx-card-make

In this pic, having one Titan as a PhysX card and another as the main GPU performs worse than two Titans in SLI, but that's in the absolute highest framerates. Otherwise, this beats the SLI configuration in the minimum and average framerate tests.

Again, this is old, hence why I'm asking.

It usually is exactly the same as regular windows, except for perhaps a splash screen.

>>
>>52053157
general advice - do not bother with SLi/CF if you can afford upgrade every year
>>
>>52053101
You can download and burn a copy of Windows 7 from the official MS website. When it asks you for a key, you can just press the skip button and it allows you to finish the installation. Once you get this done, you need to download and run DazLoader 2.2.1, as that's the version that works for me.

HOWEVER! Your motherboard must support BIOS mode and NOT UEFI. Attempting to use 2.2.1 on a UEFI motherboard will tell you that the partitioned space is not compatible with the installer.

I'm checking the fans and they all spin when I push the power button (graphics card fan stops spinning after a few seconds). But cannot get a signal to my monitor.

Search on plebbit. Also, whatever has the most reviews on Amazon is usually a good choice, and if not, someone will probably recommend something better in the reviews. After finding the right pick, look around for lower prices, because Amazon isn't always the lowest just because it is a good place to read reviews.

So I got this GPU (Asus Radeon R9 280X DirectCU II TOP) and most games give me temperatures of 70c or less. I'm playing something like Assassin's Creed Syndicate (which to be fair I'm not going to be playing anymore) and that shit kicks it up to 80c in about an hour of usage.

Is that temperature normal? I'm using pic related. I'm wondering if my best bet is to underclock the thing. Also I notice that fans never go higher than 40%.

OneeChan is a userscript that functions on top of 4chan X and allows you to customize the site with various functions, themes and mascots. Mascots are not obligatory and can be changed or disabled altogether.

Originally developed by seaweedchan, this fork adds compability with various 4chan X versions and more custom options.

if you need more than 4chanx you could use it

GNU/Linux is a primary target for virus creators because of the amount of servers running it. it's just harder to make one because it has package managers, password authentication for system critical things and security holes are fixed way faster.
>>
>>52054754
yes and "yes and no"
linux is more secure because you basically have to write sudo and a password every time you want to do something important like >>52054814 says, but that poster is bullshitting about it being the primary target, even though it's probably the primary SERVER OS target

It's not Unicode or ASCII because it's a binary blob, otherwise known as proprietary code without an open and free source.

Guys, I have two computers running win10, connected by a crossover cable. I there a way to give them both access to all each other's files and drives, without having to do something crazy like setting full control to everyone for the entire drives (C:, D: and so on) on the network sharing options?
What is the simplest way to access all files on the other computer, and have it apply to this crossover-cable-connection only and not to all networks I use in the future (like when setting network sharing on the file properties)?

What that article describes is exactly what I want to avoid. It's setting network sharing as a file property.
I obviously don't want everyone to have access to all my files in all private networks I ever connect to.
The homegroup thing might kinda work, but I want to give access to the entire drives, not just specific folders. There must be a less convoluted way of doing this, I suppose...

so you have a hard drive already or is it a SSD?
You want at least one SSD f or the OS and your existing HDDs as storage.
It's highly recommended to do a fresh installation then.

If you keep the HDD you can just plug it in, but depending on how much of your system has changed it might not boot or needs some drivers first.
>>
>>52055630
r9 390 asus strix is quiet and good. 380x if you don't need ultra settings in the newest games.
>>
>>52055659

The plan is to also buy an SSD, install Win 7 via flashdrive afterwards simply plugging this HDD into the new system.

Would that work?
>>
>>52055630
For your budget, get either a 380X (much better option than the 960) or a 390 (better option than a 970).
You can also see if you can find a 290 or 290X, which you can find with decent discounts now, but do not buy reference versions of this (the ones with the blower cooler) since they have temperature and noise issues.

So I got a Sony surround sound bar (model number HT-CT180) for my small apartment. My tv is a Sony, my bluray player is a Sony. With this soundbar, I was hoping to have a sort product unity with this thing.

With that, I was hoping that it would have some feature where it could just sync up with the other devices. Like, I could just use the TV remote to operate the volume of the soundbar like I could as easily with the bluray remote to the TV.

Product specifications are http://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/sound-bars/ht-ct180/specifications

Now, I can't tell if I'm just retarded, but don't seem to be able to get some sort of effect of operating everything with one remote.
Does that feature have some sort of fancy name?
Does this particular soundbar even have that feature?

Two things of note: of the two connectors this thing has (an optical out and a regular 3.5 headphone jack out), I have it plugged into the Optical.
The other: I got this easily at a Walmart, but there seems to be little-to-no information on this particular model on the internet.
Is this some sort of shit-variant that Sony made for pleb-tier Walmart customers or something? There's practically no helpful documentation.

Look and find out if all of your 8gb is usable? Maybe only a few gb are actually being used atm. Doesnt seem like you should be using 7+gb

Trying to rip a game's ost using VGM Toolbox from this guide: http://dbxvmods.freeforums.net/thread/137/anyway-rip-voice-files
My problem is that no folder is created at all when draging the .awb file into the blank space for the following steps in that link:

>4 - Drag and Drop the [BIRD_BGM.awb] Into the [File to search] blank space > Screenshot : img15.hostingpics.net/pics/221345Sanstitre1.jpg

>5 - Wait for [searching string to complete].

>6 - There will be a new folder named [BIRD_BGM_CUT] who contain all the music tracks encrypted in [.hca].

Any way to get around this? Also, I managed to use another tool to get the .hca files out of the .awb but they just sound like nothing but high frequencies, even when converting them to .wav, so it could be the other tool was shit or it indeed worked but I need to configure something in Audacity to hear them but what exactly do I need to do?

Is my battery dead?

When trying to charge my iPhone 5, the charging icon appears for a second, disappears, appears etc.
It goes on for a couple seconds and then off again. The percentage showed up two times at 16 and 26% and then jumped to 1% or turned off
