for example i was trying to config my wm and write a bash script to remove some code from a file (given error line N in file.cc, remove line n-x(grepping for functon definition), then to line N+y grepping for ^} or \n} )
so the shitty part:
use lua to config my wm(ok...)
use Xresources config style to config my term (1980s .ini shit, ugh)
bash uses different quoting styles with ' and ", so "/\{\}" != '/\{\}' w/ sh, (wtf)
use sed programming language for my script to do a regex file replace (1970s ugh)
oh and sed uses a different regex machine than pcre/everything else, (gross)
use awk language (from the 1970s FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK) for my script to do a line by line regex / reverse array regex (back to front)
so i had to learn like 4 20 year old languages just to config my terminal and write a 10 line shell script that would work on other nix boxes

Many students including myself cannot afford a licensed copy of Windows + Office unless Dreamspark, so it is a good alternative for us and the offices that cannot afford enterprise licenses.
Teriminal is fucking powerful and with ffmpeg I can do so much more than Windows movie maker and whatnot.
