Linux is actually much more covenient for most things. For instance, catastrophic crashes (i.e. the BSOD) basically never happen.

If you only play those then what's the fucking problem? There have been very few recent games I'm interested in. Nearly all of what I play have native ports or decent performance under WINE. I really don't see what the problem with that is. And no here has even said dual-booting is bad so you can just switch to windows if you feel the need to play something not supported or lacking a proper port.

If you talk about OS, linux is far superior than windows. But it still has to overcome several things, to become a mainstream OS.
>>
>>52044851
The main obstacle to mainstream adopting is the devs themselves. Most are far too autistic to understand the needs of the pleb. Linux will only become mainstream if users can go a whole day without using the terminal to do basic shit.

PCI pass through to Windows VM in Linux Host is true master race. Just don't put any personal information on it and then Windows botnet gets nothing from you

Wine is utter trash familia

The reason it doesnt work with anything modern is because it butchers directX

If you have the hardware, PCI passthrough works, but it can be a bit of a catch 22.

Nvidia cards are terrible for passthrough, but AMD cards are terrible for linux.

Windows has a package manager.
>>
>>52046049
Chocolatey is a ramshackle mess of a "package manager." Most packages just automate the same shitty install process you normally do in windows, re-installing the same binary multiple times for different programs. And every other package either has issues that seemingly affect half the users, or installs programs with certain settings that you might not want in an attempt to please the most people. You have to read up on just about anything you install through it because of his dubious their standards are; pretty much every package runs a unique powershell script with its own quirks limited (if any) peer reviews. I really wanted to like chocolatey for the sake of preserving my own sanity in a windows environment, but it sucks.

Some distros have god tier installers that allow you to browse and whatnot during OS installation.

Once installed, linux is a lot better managing resources, even with demanding games or apps opened alt-tabbing feels fluid while windows feels sluggish

Try opening a browser on windows when it loads, it takes ages cause it hasnt really loaded. In linux if u see the desktop youre good to go and everything pops on screen instantly

software managers like mints software manager and yast are more comfy even for normies

Only software availability and normies hold windows back at this point because linux is a superior OS

Even my computer illiterate 70yo father felt linux more comfy, while windows was a malware/toolbar hive

Also, his windows 8 update was fucked so updates had to be turned off or it'd take 40 mins to restart in this oder: prepare update>restart>apply update>fuck up>revert update

Been dual booting since 2012, but I'm running out of excuses to keep wangblows

I don't think I've seen this on any version without a extra installed program. So I have no idea.

Chocolate thingy people shill exists but the entire internet is (read the rest before sperging) "windows package manager". It's not a Linux package manager because its not Linux.

Powershell, windows script, and if you actually look .net compilers are hiding. Just file search for "csc.exe"
Plus every Linux distribution I've tried on had bash, perl and/or python installed. So its really meaningless.

I recently played some Steam games on my mother's laptop that I had installed Mint on. Super Meat Boy always showed Chrome's taskbar tooltip when Chrome wasn't minimized; Meltdown didn't work because of some network error; Risk of Rain's mouse cursor always drifts to the bottom left of the screen; Terraria supposedly launches but nothing actually happens; Steam overlay, alt-tabbing and the escape key don't work in Cave Story; Steam itself sometimes disables the left mousebutton globally until you either click the right mouse button or bring up a context menu, not sure which of those fixes it.
