Adblock is owned by advertisers, and backed by Google. Use uBlock instead.

literally kek software

chromefags are the worst
Adblock Plus is the real deal.
uBlock Origins is a good alternative.
hostfile is an "zero-resource" alternative.

All the suggestions in here track you. Consider running an apple solution, as their content blockers make it impossible for th dvs to track you

Except they get Internet access by default and they're closed source.
uBlock Origin is the only trustworthy one. In terms of source code it is relatively small and easy to understand. It absolutely isn't tracking you at all.
>>52044701
Look into ios9/ osx10.11 content blocker api. It is impossible for the maker to track anything at all. And it's much faster than even ublock
>>52044735
using that requires changing to an apple device
>>52044800
Yes. Most things require that.

hostfile leaves nasty frames all over the place though.

1) How do you keep your hostfile up-to-date? Do you have an automated process?
2) My understanding was that, at one time, hostfiles started to slow down your web browsing experience if they became large. From your post it appears that is not the case.
Did they ever slow down your browsing or is that simply an urban-legend? If someone using an old computer (less than 512MB RAM, AMD Sempron) used a typical hostfile, would they notice any loss in performance? It is an odd question because someone using a POS like that wouldn't have much performance to begin with (my suffering).

Here's my list. Latest version of FF Dev Edition. I tried a lot of user interface modifications, but most of them (even Tree Style Tab) are for some reason not better than the stock Australis UI w/ dev theme.
