The reason why the charger is on the bottom, is because otherwise it ruins Apple's image of a wireless future. They are doing everything they can to get rid of wires in general. This product further heads towards that vision. Besides, it lasts for months, and recharges after a few hours. So set it to charge before you sleep once every 2-3 months. Pretty clever actually.

I'm heavily for electric cars and that analogy is broken. Apple mouse isn't doing anything revolutionary power wise. There's just 0% chance that you could use it while charging and that's the whole innovation. It's not even charging some stylish way so it would look good in some fancy dock even when you still couldn't use it.

Fast charge is known to be degrading to battery life, it's something you Applefags laugh at Android users about boasting having, but it is an option on Android, with the Mouse and Pencil you can't turn it off. I don't think I can go back to a normal mouse after having a mouse with a multitouch surface on it. The gestures are just so handy for productivity, since on a normal mouse you want do stuff like just swipe the top in different ways to change workspaces, change tabs, etc.
Also, I fingertip grip my mouse, so the low profile of the magic mouse is more comfortable than almost any other mouse for me. Granted, if you don't finger grip your mouse, then the magic mouse would be absolutely awful for you.
That being said, I'm happy with my old magic mouse and will probably buy another one if it ever breaks on me.
