I don't get why people think Gimp is so bad. It has a decent set of core features, it's stable and does the job. Most importantly, it's free as in beer and as in freedom. So I can use it to do simple manipulation of my own photos without having to worry about paying Adobe a $20/month subscription fee (or downloading a pirated copy from some shady torrent that may or may not be infected with viruses and malware).
