So should I go for the Invicta 8926OB? Do they all the have the Seiko NH35a or do some have miyotas? How should I watch out for this?
This is the link I'm looking at
>http://www.amazon.com/Invicta-8926OB-Stainless-Automatic-Bracelet/dp/B000JQFX1G

pls help a nigga trying to cop a 4R movement for cheap
>>
>>51968715
>cheap
It's a 7S26 with hacking and handwinding.

With all the modding you're going to put into this thing becoming a nice looking and not a gaudy piece of shit you're better off buying some SRP series Seiko instead.

Some of the cheaper ones go for 125~
>>
>>51968844
I don't actually plan on modding it. Isn't the 4R a 7S26 with hacking and handwinding anway?
>>
What the is best automatic movement watch under $1,000
>>
>>51968891
It is, quality might be a little higher.

Though i'll repeat myself, the invicta is a really awful looking watch up close. The cyclops is kinda badly done, their logo is on every fucking thing on the watch (to make it harder to mod), and it's only redeeming factor is that 4R36 movement that you can find on a decent Seiko.

So unless you're up for making it a sterile sub or some interesting mod, do not buy it.
>>
About to pick up a skx007. It says the strap is 22mm. Are watch straps standardized so I can buy any 22mm strap and expect it to fit? Or do I specifically have to buy a 'skx007 strap'?

>Are watch straps standardized so I can buy any 22mm strap and expect it to fit
yes.
>>
>>51968911
Best is a subjective term

Have a look on seiya Japan at the jdm seikos they offer. They are very high quality watches for less then $1000

You could go vintage Swiss as well

I think the cheapest Seiko with a 4R movement is the new Monster line and those are >$250, I might be willing to excuse the branding if I get the 4R for only 80 bucks.
>>51969029
Are you talking about natos? If so then yes. If you're buying a bracelet with endlinks they might not fit.

>>
>>51969093
Nope. Most don't have end links so it'll fit fine
>>

Yes they are standardized.

Any strap with 22mm lugs should be fine.

>>51969067
The SRP621 is 125$ off eBay right now.

The monster is about 204$, so yeah that's a lil steep.

Yes, unless you're talking about metal bracelets. Those usually have curved endlinks that fit a specific watch.

Other than that 22mm is 22mm.

What watch would you recommend for someone who would wear it while surfing, probably over a wetsuit. It just needs to tell time and maybe have an alarm. A g shock?

That doesn't look too bad, but I need more divers in my collection, hence the interest in the Invicta

I'd go for it. It's a solid watch for the money and the movement is excellent. Obviously I'm biased and I bought mine knowing that I was going to spend another £50 and a fair bit of time modding it. The stock dial, hands and bezel insert aren't too great but the rest is well worth the money.

Not too hard, it just took a lot of time. First I took the watch apart so I could concentrate on the case, and then I used needle files to slowly remove the branding without ruining the shape of the case. You could do it quickly with a dremel but that might cause problems such as a "wavy" finish. The crown guards were harder to remove but that was my personal preference.

Kinetics are quartz. Your watch is just automatic.

>>51972791
>so it tends to slow down over the course of a day

There's no "so" to that. Automatics aren't slow because they're automatic. Yours is slow because it runs slow. It also runs about the same degree of slow all day. You just start noticing it at the end of the day. You're winding it all day as you walk around.

It's a good watch, dude. If it's too slow for you somebody should be able to regulate it pretty cheaply.

Didn't pay through the roof, I see the flaws dial is oddly immaculate besides the spot which is overly highlighed by the angle of the photo, considering how good the rest of the dial is I don't think its water damage

It's been polished a bit too much, to get out what I'm assuming was a lot of very minor scratches

Paid like $150 australian, so probably 100 usd. When I get more disposable income I'll probably sell it (doubt I will loose much if any money) and buy an immaculant one

Cheers again for the help

Partly relevant since this is a watch thread, but the production of watches in the USSR was started by one of Stalin's 5-year plans.

So unless you have a Soviet watch that name isn't justified. HidekiTojo is more fitting since it seems you only have jap watches so far.

I know, but it all honestly I'd only get one for a gimmick and a novelty, I've said before I'm also a huge fashion fan, can't really tie in an ugly soviet watch with my aesthetic (I'm aware I soimd gay as fuck right now)

Was using the name JosefStalin way before I bought my first watch anyway

I now, cheeky Asian fucker, was a touch deceptive about it in the listing and photos. Looks better irl the photo isn't doimg it any favours

about to buy my first watch, probably around $500.

So first question, Titanium or Stainless Steel?
>>
>>51976601
Get a Poljot de lux ,Either handwinding or automatic.

Not wearing a watch because it is ugly as fuck is the one common to both /g/ and /fa/ watch threads. The main difference is that /g/ frowns upon shitty fashion brand watches and mountaincuck tier brands like Tissot.

Any reason I shouldn't buy this? It's a bit more expensive but the bezel and case are stainless steel and it has the automatic movement.
>>
>>51976808
The 35X driskies are overall great watches, same 2416B that you find in Amphibia's with a rather nice case and bezel. I think it costs as much as regular Amphibia doesn't it?

Plus it accepts most other Vostok bezels and aftermarket bezels.
>>
>>51976832
It's 65 dorra so about that much. I don't like the looks of nickel-plated brass so this model caught my eye. Bet it would look bitching with a NATO strap too.
>>
>>51976860
Lowest price is 67$ (including shipping), that's correct. And it'll look great on a Nato. Since the stock band is probably made out dog anus leather.

>>51976671
So does /fa/. There watch threads are literally exactly the same just slower moving, hence why I migrated here solely for watch threads

I'm strapped for cash, I'm not on the greatest terms fianlcially at the moment. I might consolidate my collection a bit and get one in the future, I quite like the look, reliability is obviously a concern of mine

Can anybody help me out in recognizing an Orient?

Was yesterday in the mall and was surprised to see some shitty mall store selling Orients.
so I browsed a bit a tried on an Orient which apparently I cant find now looking at big lists such as:
http://www.orient-watch.com/products/

At the time didn't really think about looking at the model number on the watch or asking for model name, because I thought it would be easy to find online. thought wrong I guess

it was looking a lot like the Union\1st gen bambino only:
>around the 39-41mm.
>full reflective blue dauphine hands,no lume.
>somewhat clean whitish/creamy dial. No numerals.
>a full day name indicator under the 12.
>a day of month indicator at 3 o'clock.
>automatic, clear caseback.

I need some help guys.

I've literally just received an Armani AR2434 watch that I bought online. I opened up the box, checked through it and I can't seem to find a certificate of authenticity. So I call the company up that I bought it from, and the guy tells me "Oh I guess we might have missplaced it, we'll send you a new certificate of authenticity out right now"

Is that even real? I'm thinking it might be a fake because how the fuck is he gonna send me a new certificate of authenticity out if my watch came without one? So he's just going to send me out a random authenticity code?

>Did I get scammed?
>>
>>51978449
Irreverent, it's a fashion watch and the difference between the real and the good fakes is unnoticeable. Since quite frankly they all use the same cheap quartz movement and the only real difference is the QC.

So a certificate of authenticity is pointless.
>>
>>51978449
What difference does it make? The same shitty factory in China would be making a fake with the same shitty parts.
>>
>>51978449
The ones that dont come with the certificate are literally same watches from the same factory just sold as ''gray market'' watches.
>>
>>51978522
>>51978500

The kind of replies I expected. Ain't your Seiko watches Japanese or something?

It's the prinipal of it, I'm not going to pay £200 for a fake watch when I could have bought one for cheaper if I geniunlly wanted a fake.
>>
>>51978449
Sounds like you bought a watch from the people that sell those Authentic Irish Citizen certificates.
>>

>>
>>51978584
But the thing is you don't have to compromise at all, there are plenty of nice watches out there for that price that aren't made in china with shitty quartz movements and look fucking great. You're paying for a brand name of a company that doesn't even make watches.
>>
>>51978549
Not all of our Seiko's are Japanese made, some of the ones on the cheaper side are Malaysian made. But they are all original since there isn't a point faking a Seiko because the process of creating such a watch won't bring any profit. Though fakes exsist but they are really easy to spot.

Your Armani is a very cheap to produce watch, and has a very very high markup in comparison to the manufacturing costs (Probably like 10$ in materials and 5$ to produce). So fakes will exist, but they come from the same factory that makes the originals.

For the money? Very good choice.

Solid watch, automatic&handwinding and 20atm WR.

I bought my first watch a year ago and I'm thinking of buying another for christmas.

The thing is, I live in a third whole shithole with shit currency so even buying an SKX007 is kinda a big deal for me.

So I just want to ask those who have 2 or more watches. Do you wear one watch more frequently over the other?

Have you ever regretted buying a watch?

I find that as long as you like your watches, even if you like one more than others, keeping 2 or 3 in rotation and getting each a good amount of wrist time isn't that difficult.

Buyers remorse is a thing no matter what type of thing you are getting.

Oddly enough it was the same for me, though my country isn't third world tier but economically it's not that good (about on par with Canada)

Also any other tips on what to do to take care of them break them in?
>>
So I heard skx007 will be out of production soon.

Is seiko planning another line to replace the skx?

Yup, the SRP777 and similar. Basically a reissued 6309-7040.
