Changing newtab in Firefox

So the latest Firefox update fucked up the new tab page, New Tab Override doesn't work anymore and neither does changing it in about:config. Anyone figure out a way to change it again yet?
Use a non-shit browser?

Had the same problem this morning; the dev added this url validation for some reason:

go to about:config
find browser.newtab.url
change it to about:blank or whatever you please
