How you do this? I set my utorrent RSS to download only 75-100% FL torrents, it updates each 5 minutes and in more than a month I've got only 400 Gbs of buffer. Seedboxers beat me more than on any other tracker I've been to, even on HDB without automatic download when I jump on FL torrent that was uploaded 1-2 hours ago, I get 1.5-2.5 ratio. On AHD 1 is a great result. 90/90 home connection.

To answer your question, experiment with your parts. Too many and you're download will be slower because of increased TCP overhead, too little an you wont me maxxing your connection.
reminder that trackerfags care about their status on their trackers more than the media they download. also this is the reason why ratioless trackers with a minimum seeding time requirement instead of a minimum ratio requirement will always be best

You can go as high as you want. Note that some providers limit the amount of connections from a single IP though. Feral lets you do 100 total connections from an IP.

There is no limit, but I don't reccomend opening 50 ssh connections on windows unless you like crashes.

This is a problem with cygwin, and windows on some machines that's impossible to overcome. It should be immediate, yes.

Me still, it takes a while to start because it freezes up as it preallocates the entire file to disk or something. The more connections the longer it takes. I've had 30gb files take 10-15 minutes. But once it kicks off it's fine and you can always resume it if you cancel if you use the resume flag.
Next time you see it freeze up as you start check the disk usage.

If you're only writing one file then yes preallocation will generally choose a part of the disk with enough space to write the whole file. If you're writing multiple files it's not 100% guaranteed.

No, but ext4 isn't retarded and doesn't write multiple files right next to each other for "speed". It will write two files very far apart, so that defragmentation is less of an issue. It also reserves certain parts of your HDD so you can't overwrite them (without root), there by reducing the probability of defragmentation.
However you will eventually need to defragment the disk if you fill it up past ~90%
