Don't listen to this guy. 18650 is overkill for a pocket flashlight. The lights are too fat, too long, too heavy and way, way too bright. 1000 lumens is ridiculous for EDC, there is no situation where that much light would be needed or where that much effort in upkeep should be tolerated.
AA is fine, Nitecore, Fenix, FourSevens, EagleTac, etc. Pay more than $20 and less than $50. Even some clicky AAA lights are pretty killer, like those from L3 and Nitecore.

Fenix E05 "gen 2"
They recently released a new model. I have both the original and the new version, old is 27 lumens on/off twist, new is 5/25/85 on 3 different settings based on how many times you twist the head each less-than-a-second period.
Both use a single Cree LED and are powered by a single AAA. Almost exact same size but the diffuser on the original is different than the new one. Old one has a honeycomb look to it new one is more smooth. Non-focusing as far as I can tell.
Absolutely love these lights due to size and the fact they run on AAA, 20 bucks you can't go wrong.

No I've had it less than a year. I use it in alternation with a Tenacious that was my first real EDC knife. I bought the Manix 2 when I disassembled my Tenacious to clean then when I put it back together I didn't use threadlock so a screw fell out and I sent it back for warranty repair, they were pretty decent about it and sent it back. I'm forever a customer since their knives have shown to be very well built and their customer service was, to me, top notch.

I don't see where a little bit of tint would matter. I have no complaints about my light's output.
Also the E05 is one of the most compact flashlights out there that takes either an AA or AAA and it's small enough to put on my keychain. Any bigger and I wouldn't want it on my keys and I don't want to carry a separate flashlight.
If size wasn't an issue then maybe but for, again, like 20 bucks, being waterproof and all, it's about as small as lights come that don't take button cells or 3 volt batteries (no) and the second gen throws 85 lumens.
Also consider the application I use my light in 90% of the time:
-Under a desk fucking with cabling
-In a network closet fucking with cabling
-Looking into some sort of device from the inside
-Quick fixes on my car
-General around the house shit
-Walking/searching around at night if needed
I'm not climbing a mountain or mining the Earth here. Besides, if I was doing literally anything else I'd have a headlamp because it does seem kind of dumb to carry a light if you can head-mount it.

I don't know a whole lot about network closets, and it might not matter for what you're doing, but one of the most common things I read about when it comes to people seeking out better light quality is to identify color coding on wires. Apparently a lot of LEDs make that difficult due to limited spectrums.
Regardless, I just wanted people to know that there are arguably superior alternatives to Cree to consider, even though Cree is much more well-known in the US. What really bothers me about Cree is that it seems like even if you seek out their higher end, higher CRI emitters, they often still look like crap because of tint issues. I'd expect it from typical low-end junk, but I've read about so many supposed enthusiast-tier flashlights with supposed high light quality Cree LEDs that had horrible green tints and such.

It's been acting up lately, actually, I'm scared that it might be living on borrowed time.
I can't take screenshots on it anymore, because for some reason it refuses to register power + vol down as being pressed together, and it just turns the screen off or gets muted when I try.
The camera is also acting up, pictures are noticeably worse quality than they were when I got it, and it can't focus at all if the flash is active.
When the battery gets below 15%, it drops the SIM card, and refuses to connect to anything at all. Can't unlock the phone, can't even make emergency calls when this happens.
It also occasionally (rarely) reboots randomly.

I don't have mine to carry it every day.
I have mine to conceal carry to higher crime areas. I live in a major city. I've seen vagrants try to start fights because you won't give them a cigarette. I don't plan on ever using my gun, but it's nice to know that I can quickly defuse a situation just by putting my hand on it.
I'd rather have one and not need it than need one and not have. It's not a severe inconvenience to carry given how compact mine is, and it's a good feeling knowing that you have just that much more control of your life should some crazy scenario arise.
I was also born and raised in Alaska so I spent my life hunting moose and shooting guns. Shot on a varsity rifle team for my high school.
