Hey /g/. I'm currently in the market for a new tablet. My budget is around $240/£150
I'm not sure if I should go for an android tablet or a windows one. I feel the android one would probably run a bit faster but the windows one would be a lot more future proof.
Any reccomendations for specific tablets or whether I should go for an android or windows one?
I quite like this one, but I feel on 1gb of ram it could be awfully slow

my only worry with android is after a few years when there are newer versions of android, my tablet will start to become useless as I will not be able to download a lot of apps, whereas with windows I would not have this problem
got a venue 8 pro used for very cheap, has 2gb ram and with a Bluetooth keyboard it's good for random consumption and basic office work. windows is the way to go if you don't need muh apps
the newer android versions don't matter at all
windows tablet = weak laptop
android tablet = large smartphone
windows tablet is far more useful most of the time. Problem is, most have really shitty graphics and low ram, and the ones that don't are too expensive. Just get a 70-150$ windows tablet like hp stream, lynx or whatever

Why not get a thinkpad x230? Or any reasonable small laptop. I own a tablet and some apps are nice but I generally struggle to find any real use for it.
The games are generally abysmal shovel ware. Apps are always dumbed down from the desktop experience and so is browsing. You can't really do anything productive.

I have a thinkpad x201, although I don't use it as the speakers don't work. I'm just getting a tablet for shitposting on 4chan and to bring to lectures so I don't have to pay $200 for the printed textbook

Okay that sounds reasonable. If you buy it with those expectations you won't be disappointed. I've seen some people on g wanting it to their laptop.

Ahh, the 7 inch version of this is perfect for me, especially in terms of price and size, but I am really put off by the 1GB of ram on windows. Will this be a hindrance?

Stick with something 1080 or higher for anything over 7 inches unless your eyes are mediocre. I made the mistake, it's worth the small price bump

other guy is right, the resolution is fine. i've edited a bunch of spreadsheets and the office touch interface doesn't sacrifice any of the functionality
and there is expandable storage, at least with my pro 5000, a microSD card is mandatory since the OS takes up most of the internal drive
