CISPA PASSED

So let's talk encryption. What does /g/ use?
>>
>>51947044
Get out of here skaven.
>>
NSA go away.

Tor, Signal, Protonmail (only with locally encrypted pgp messages), Libreboot, and Qubes+Whonix. Come at me, brah.
>>
Number stations. Good luck NSA
>>
>>51947044
Bitlocker for FDE and Boxcryptor for anything I store on OneDrive that I want encrypted as well.

I should probably start using a VPN as well, but I've got so much stuff that I access from my home network that it would just fuck with it too much if I tried applying it to the whole thing.
>>
VeraCrypt.

Am I doing it right?
>>

>unironically using botnet encryption

Why even bother if youre using Windows anyway?

More to the point, CISA, or whatever its called now, has nothing to do with local data storage, local encryption isn't going to defend against it.
>>

>Protonmail
Enjoy having your mail read by the Mossad
>>
>>51947691

Reread my post. I encrypt text locally with pgp, so Protonmail is for redundancy. In any case, I'd rather have Israeli jews read my mail than San Francisco Jews.

>Bitlocker
>OneDrive

why are you even on this board?

What do you mean?
>>
>>51947773

Windows is in the governments back pocket and bitlocker is widely believed to be depricated.

Are you fucking illiterate?

Besides, Boxcryptor does do exactly that, which is why I use it.

You know, some people just want to protect their information from the everyday jamal that steals laptops.

>unlocking the drive leaves the data encrypted
Then what good is it?
>>
>>51947849
>>51947890

Look at the context, assholes. Local encryption doesn't protect against CISPA.
>>
>>51947044
Freenet and I2P are both very nice for leaving the normal internet.
>>
>>51947909
The key is left out in the open to decrypt it if needed? At least that's what I understood
>>
>>51947730
All data captured by Mossad is going to be funnelled right back to the NSA so...
>>
>>51948182

The same is true of google so...
>>
>>51948257
so use tutanota
>>
Is there a good truecrypt fork? It just werked but then got shut down
>>
I don't use any encryption, where do I start /g/?
>>
>>51947547
Yep.
>>
this applies only to USfags?
>>
>>51950275

It also applies to any US companies you might use: Google, Facebook, DragonDildosExpress, etc.
>>
>>51949465

Veracrypt. But the last Trucrypt that was audited is still viable. I forgot the version number though.
>>
>>51950573
but what about if you live in Spain or something? what can they do?
>>
>>51947044

What is the windows equivalent of luks ? Is it possible to encrypt the whole drive so its decrypt during boot ?
>>
>>51950917

The NSA likely has a data sharing program with the Spanish government, or at the very least they can pressure the Spanish government to take whatever action they want against you. The spanish government probably has similar agreements with Spanish companies, so this is just another reminder to steer clear of large, proprietary software companies and to encrypt communications locally before broadcasting them.
>>
>>51950920

The only option for encrypting the boot drive is Libreboot or coreboot.

there's no NSA-safe way to do that, so far. the only way is to split your brain and use windows/osx for job and normal stuff, and have the other side of your brain for all the sick depraved stuff you like in a FDE Linux Box running strictly from a usb drive.

so..yeah, controlled split personalities from now on, have fun

Are encrypted USB's prone to any form of attack like cold boot etc?
>>
>>51951779
this isn't true, it's very much possible to have your entire drive encrypted incl. the boot partition. grub can boot and decrypt a luks partition no problem, but that's not going to stop someone from evil maiding you, like a properly configured libreboot/coreboot setup would.
>>
>>51951964
it's mostly for anti-theft if the laptop gets pinched, i just need encryption another person can't get past
