Well, we have lives outside of the basement, and gayming is a legit hobby. Wine is a pain in the ass to set up imo. I still use mint to post on linux desktop threads though.

I would also not recommend buying any asus gpu, I got a card with terrible coil whine at first, rma'd it and got one with less but still noticeable coil whine but I'm not in the mood to rma it again, their amd card are pretty infamous too. But as it was the cheapest I could find I'll excuse them for this experience.
>>
>>51946806
It's a 970 thing, not an Asus specific problem.

Oh well, it's only a problem when the fan is specifically between 51% and 54%, so I set it to run at 58% when it reaches 75°C, under 65°C it's passive so it's not much of a problem. I can't even hear it thanks to the stock Intel cooler though. Would it actually be possible to set the cpu fan to not run when the cpu is under a set temperature? It's a 6500 so I guess it shouldn't reach 60°C under light load without the fan.

Wasn't the 760 2gb? The 780ti is 3gb, isn't it?

speaking of poorfag, I have a question. my brother has close to no expendable income and im trying to build a PC for him. he currently has a ABIT IP35-E LGA 775 mobo with a (I think) C2D E6400 with 4 gigs of ram and a piece of shit Nvidia card (I -think- it's a GTX430).

Now, im thinking of getting him a q6600 and a new graphics card, but im not sure how well that processor would a) work with the mobo and b) work with his 400 watt PSU (which is a shitty brand so probably more like 350w). also I don't know what gfx card to get. Im guessing it would have to be powered by the mobo itself without any external power needed because the PSU is quite weak. would a 8800 be decent enough to play newish games on low-medium on 720p? he doesn't have a 1080p monitor anyway.

any ideas, /g/entoomen?

775 fags, why don't you switch to 771 Xeons? You can get quad core for dirt cheap. All you need to do is to cut your motherboard a bit, and paste some Chinese adapter on the cpu.

yfw one newer generation i7 probably outperforms it, while consuming less than half the power

yfw its still faster than any AMD cpu.
