In 2012 and 2013, some members of Congress tried to pass the privacy killing bill CISPA. But Americans pushed back and defeated it. Now CISPA is back - only it's being called CISA - and it's even worse than before.

Look it over, sign the petition if you wish to protect your privacy, or don't...

I wonder how many of you online activist placebophiles actually participate in politics outside of making shitty ineffectual petitions only when someone threatens your personal online hugbox.

You're a bit late, OP. It's already been signed into law. In short, we're fucked.

I don't frequent /g/ that often as my home board is /k/. Would getting a VPN be a good idea, or would it simply make me stand out even more because I'm making a point to mask my activities?
>>
We should of seen this coming 20 years ago.

It seems like the internet is just one giant trap to control humanity by luring us in with memes, facebook, and porn. Seems like we've been caught in this giant web and now the spider is coming to suck the life out of us.

Save us Elon Musk.

Nah, it's a 5.56. I'm working on a .300blk build right now and am in the process of acquiring a couple of cans.

But /k/ related discussion aside, I would like to know people's opinion on >>51934258. Is a VPN a good idea even if I have nothing to hide? Will it draw attention to myself?

Obama signed it.

And with this we learned a good lesson.

If you want these kind of things to stop, you take those responsible and drop them in a ditch

It still lacks a stamp from Obongo, not that I'm seeing him oppose it when it's tied into a massive funding bill and it's the end of the year.

Enjoy your Plutocracy, faggots.
>>
>>51939436
>It still lacks a stamp from Obongo

Nope, he just signed it.

Our only hopes now are:

-A ruling that it's unconstitutional, which is unlikely since it has tons of stuff built in that makes it hard to prove the data was got by CISA and honestly there's not much I can think of about it that's unconstitutional anyways;

-That somebody proposes a repeal and that gets somewhere, which is also unlikely

-That a repeal gets snuck into a spending bill like this did, but then obama would veto it even if it got to him

-That since it's voluntary on companies parts, that we get companies to pledge to not send info out except for cases where they would have already had the authority to had CISA not passed. Since many companies have already denounced CISA this is probably our best bet.

Since 99% of all tech companies are US anyways it won't matter, if you use their services they can still share stuff undder cisa but have even less protection since you aren't a citizen.
>>
>>51939860
The EU has gotten rather stiff laws into place especially for stuff like that.

hey /k/omrade, how much you pay for that optic? also aeroPrecision upper? if its lwrc why would you change the bcg?

>>51934614
>>51934696
depends on the VPN provider, you gotta do some sleuthing into who uses the service, what parent companies are behind it, what their relationship with companies under the PRISM umbrella are, who has ties to US feds. I know one company advertises as 'military grade' encryption or protection or something because some branch uses them. I would say, youre best bet is services that companies with the shadiest records use. its a lot of homework

Honestly, i could see the TPP being of more concern,
No more, reverse engineering, and if small dik asian countries host shit on their servers that the feds dont like, t g e spooks will come in
