AMD hasn't used temperature sensors in their CPUs for a very long time. There is only one real temp probe in the package.
They have a bunch of circuit paths that measure power consumption and leakage in real time, then use that data along with some math to calculate precisely how hot all areas of the die are. The caveat is that they don't spit out a single temp in raw numbers, its based on a metric called thermal margin which is taking the hottest part of the die into account. If a given chip can sustain 70c before throttling, and the real temp of the hottest area is at 50c, then it has 20c remaining thermal margin. If it idles at 20c then it has 50c thermal margin.

I got this shit for 220 euro (MB + CPU) a few months back. Clocks up to 4.625Ghz.
Used Extreme socket intels right now are extremely good value.
