Hey g I am a bit of a not so experienced builder, so I am ignorant to a lot of ins and outs

Anyway did I do this right to make sure the card is fully powered? Just all 4 connectors from the 2 coming from the psu?

The card came with some 6 to 8 adapters and I don't know if I should have used those

Help is really appreciated, I'm just nervous about flipping it on and ruining everything

These are what came with it, dunno what they would be for though, maybe using a 6 in case you don't have an 8?
>>
Wow hilarious bait
>>
>>51910658
No, you did it wrong

dont put two plugs from one cable into the card, use 2 eight pins or two 6+2s
>>
>>51910773

I'm not kidding

>>51910835

I'm not really sure what that all entails
>>
The last 2 wires from the 8 pins connectors are just ground wires.

You can safely pull the same power as 8pins from a 6pins connector.
>>
>>51910864

So do I pull the little two hanging off the side?
>>
>>51910874
No? This card requires 4x 8pins connectors, right?

And you have two cables coming from your PSU, each with 2x 8pins right?

Right, these are the cables I have coming off the psu
>>
>>51910903
dont use those, or if you do only plug in one plug and use another cable from the psu to plug it in

the $200 psu i just bought had big warnings about this so yeah

I don't get it, is this a single cable with 4x 8pins connectors?
>>
>>51910918

Two cables, each with two 8 pins
>>
>>51910927
You will be fine then, the worst that could happen is the PC shutting down right after pushing the power button if the card doesn't receives enough power.
>>
>>51910937

Oh man, you scared me. So then I did it right?

Two wires coming from the psu, each with two 8s hooking it up

Before I recheckd the thread I hit the boot button because I thought for sure I did it right but when I saw this I powered it off again

Also because I didn't hook up the cable to my ssds and nothing booted

I'm sorry about all this, I'm just now starting to get into computers and stuff so going from my 780 to this 600w card has my head spinning
>>
>>51910937

And the way I did it is correct with one cable being the first two 8s taken up, second being the next two 8s

Threes no particular order or that sort of thing right? It's just power?
>>
>>51910985
Yeah, unless your PSU manual says you can't use both plugs at the same time. You will be fine.

Anyway if it fails the PC will shutdown immediately even before the fans can spin at full speed.
>>
>>51911009
Doesn't matters but if you wires are 8pins + 6+2pins each just for consistency. then I would plug them in that order, if they are 8pins then who cares.

>>51911027

Just 4 6+2s

I plugged then in the same way I had them
>>
>>51911045
Doesn't matter then.
>>
>>51911050

Thanks man, I was worried in the beginning but everything's looking smooth right now I think, except now my raid 1 is asking for a rebuild

I really wish I paid attention to this stuff back in the day

Again, thank you for the help
>>
>>51911099
If you have more 8 pin cables then use them. It will reduce the resistance in the cable and has no downsides.
>>
Wow if only this thread always worked this way. Respect 4chan, but really poor question.
>>
>>51911226

Nope, just what the PSU had come with, my old PSU wasn't modular so I didn't have anything left over

>>51911550

Thanks for that, but yeah I just wanted to be safe, I was pretty sure after reading the user manual for the card and the psu that hooking those up in that way was the way to go, but still learning so I wanted to take it slow and make sure of this sort of stuff instead of making mistakes that could cost me hundereds of dollars
>>
Why in the name of sweet baby Jesus would anyone even own that card? 2 R9 290x would do the exact same thing for a whole lot less money.

saged because pantsu~ on head retarded thread
