>>51901591
Agreed, those specs are almost laughably good to be in an "is it outdated?" thread. 16GB of RAM might be something to look into, though I doubt the timings would make a useful difference.
Me I guess:
>Intel i5 2500k 39% OC
>AMD Radeon 7950 (3GB) 37% OC
The thing is, my 2500k used to have no trouble getting to 4.9GHz or sometimes even 5GHz. Now I have to run a ton of voltage through it to get even 4.6GHz, so I'm worried that I might have pushed it to hard in the past.
Granted I bought this chip in-person right when Sandy Bridge released, so it is about 4.5yr old at this point. The thing is, I don't want one of the newer Intel CPUs that lacks a soldered IHS, and the current AMD offerings are lousy. I guess I will just hold out until Zen this time next year?

Honestly, only thing I will probably do next year to it is get some new HDD's for files, maybe a SSD for games I am currently playing (At the moment, I can only have about 2 or so games installed on my SSD), and maybe get a bigger modular power supply. That and maybe get a 4K TV for games (Have it hooked up to both my TV and monitor)

They do support dx12, it's just that they were built for dx11 so dx12 won't increase performance. Amd's 300 and fury series were built for dx12, so they are supposedly going to perform better with dx12 games.

>>51901107
Damn, you saved it?
Did the 4th core unlock? Also, I don't remember the pricing to place if you got a deal there on the 500, but you probably should have gone with the 640GB.
Anyway, it doesn't look like you have many upgrade options on that mobo. If you weren't able to unlock/overclock that, if you could find an X6 for cheap ($50) it might be worth it. Otherwise, not.
If the video card's still doing what you want, you can keep it, but know you can also find massive upgrades for cheap. You could get $35 for that used, and if you're lucky you can pick up 6950/7870 in the $50-60 range on craigslist. (I picked up a GTX 580 for $15 and two 7870's for $60 each)

4 more GB and a 270 or 270x are solid if you're willing to sacrifice at 1080p (assuming you're playing at that resolution) a 380 or 380x or used 7970(280x) would be optimal assuming the x4 won't bottleneck it too hard.

the cooler is what I have untill I can get some mill time to make some waterblocks, it'll do for now. the ram is twice what I actually need, and the prices on DDR4 were not as low as I expected. Im waiting for intel's next > quad core cpu, the VMs will be happy, perhaps even free range.

My computer is old. Which reminds me, I'm holding onto a friends computer so I can install Gentoo on it per his request, and I'll do it because he'll pay me and I get to laugh because he won't know what to do since he's never touched Linux a day in his life. I'm kind of jealous of his rig because he's got some new i7, two graphics cards and like 32GB of RAM, and I'm just using the computer I built when I was in middle school (3rd year of college) because I've never need an upgrade to keep playing my gaymes and I don't circlejerk graphics performance.
