Although i would like something more easy to customize and a bit lighter, which distro would you recommend?.

Debian Stable or Testing, depending on your preference.

Or, you can try Ubuntu's minimal CD.
>>
This is something I never got: people change distros for shit as simple as a dock or a top bar. Stay on Ubuntu and install a different DE. Try Gnome (you can make it look like elementary, which tries to look like OS X). If you want a really lightweight experience install LXDE. Change distros for important reasons like package managers or repository update state.
Don't use Debian unless it's a server. Don't use Arch unless you need bleeding edge for whatever reason (or you just hate systemd with a passion). Don't use Gentoo period.
>>
For now lubuntu or xubuntu

Also elementary OS is light too and has a very sexy looking desktop env.

When u go pro, try Arch Linux or Debian.

Don't listen to 4chan jokers :D, gentoo is fine too but not too much for a workstation.

Why do people always group these two? I seriously want someone to explain their reasoning on this. One uses an old as fuck kernel and packages, the other is so up to date it's considered unstable. They don't share the same init, package manager or anything more consistent than the standard tools and the Linux kernel. They're as apart as 2 distros could be.
I'm starting to believe people who spout "Debian and Arch" use none.

I use Gnome 3, but it is not very costumizable. But I think it's beautiful. My tip is to look at linux desktops and see if you see one you like, then figure out what desktop enviroment they use and get that. DE's like xfce, lxde are more customizable. Also follow the advice of >>51885872 except Gentoo is great (but not for beginners)

Arch or Antergos are not unstable at all. If you try to install proprietary GPU drivers or update your kernel to an unstable version - the system breaks. I don't see any reason why anyone would do any of those 2 things. Since gaming on Linux is not yet great - why would anyone install proprietary GPU drivers? I've been using Antergos for quite some time now and nothing breaks. Unstable is just a meme.

>>51886001
It's because professionals might be used to Debian (where having stable old packages makes sense), and people who know their shit might also use Arch on their home computer (only someone insane would use it as a production server, updating it would be a nightmare without a lot of extra work)

That is what I imagine

mpv? Bitcoin mining? I don't know, honestly. Also I clearly remember pacman would delete X's config when updating, so you'd end up having to reconfigure shit through the CLI. I have nothing against the CLI, I just don't like being forced onto it.
Not trying to shit on Arch, I just don't use it because it just makes no sense in my case (work laptop, value stability way more than having the kernel that left Torvald's desk 2 hours ago).

What's the difference between all those versions of ubuntu?

Debian stable. or testing if you are brave enough already for some small broken packages that can be fixed in 10 minutes

the desktop enviorment.

Ubuntu uses unity
Xubuntu uses XFCE
Kubuntu uses KDE
Lubuntu uses LXDE
Mythbuntu has mythtv built in
Edubuntu is some stupid shit or whatever

Gaming on Linux is pretty great imo. Steam and GOG have plenty of games (I've been playing a lot of Axiom Verge) and there's always emulators and good old OpenArena.

It's not AAA though, but whether that matters depends on the kind of games you like.

Currently on Mint Cinnamon.

Is Arch any good? I feel like switching from babbys first to something more entertaining.

I don't do any of those things. I don't even live in the USA, so there's no point in doing anything with bitcoins. MPV - I'm not going to spend two hours configuring a video player just to get some basic functionality that for example VLC comes with by default.

I don't have a gaming pc and I don't really play much, but when I want to play something I always have Windows 7 on dual boot. I just hope Vulkan changes the game.

sure, it's good enough. plenty of tutorials to get something mainstream up and running.
