Because I've learned a long time ago that the further you sit from the fucker the better.
Used to be a regular speaker at some conferences in Paris on open saucewares, and usually ended the day with everyone at a restaurant, and I've had plenty time to study this specimen. He's fucking disgusting. He's a literal pig.
And the worse thing is that he has sky high cleanliness and hygiene standards, except about everything but himself. On two occasions he started getting absolutely fucking mad, shouting and throwing shit around at a restaurant because the plate he was served wasn't perfectly clean on the edges. Mind you, I'm not talking about dirty plates here, only what happens when it's being served, a drop of sauce accidentally hits the edge, and is quickly wiped with a clean towel by the chef, which is unnoticeable unless you spend 5 minutes looking at the plate like Stallman does. All that while smelling like a sewer.
Also heard a lot from organizers, who said he was a real nightmare, requesting 4 stars hotels, spending his time shouting at hotel personel, and asking for taxis to take him absolutely everywhere even down the street at a 3 minute walk. It cost a small fortune to get him there every single time, to the point they eventually stopped inviting him to conferences.
I wish I could erase that smell from my memories.

I saw Stallman at a grocery store in Los Angeles yesterday. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything.
He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?”
I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Milky Ways in his hands without paying.
The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter.
When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.

I was under the impression that stallman would temporarily install windows on his own machines because they had functions that could only be done on windows. That wouldnt make sense because there's a FOSS alternative to just about everything these days
