what 1151 mobo do I get?

Have most of the parts already

Why would you want a 1151 mobo?

I can't decide if I want to keep that ASUS x99-A or get the MSI x99 SLI Plus

Also if I should get the V8 for aesthetics over the Noctua...

I was really hyped for Skylake and then I found out they bend when you put a cooler on them.

Think I'll stick with 1150 for now and just get a 4790K

For a Skylake build of course. I come from a fuckin celeron, so might as well.

Did you take into account the power needed to for keyboard ect. also as years go by your PSU deterioates. Upgrading your hardware means you will need a better PSU with higher voltage, thus your PSU you choose is defently not future proof and not cost effective for the future. I asked if he might have a case lying around, figuring that anyone who would upgrade from a Haswell i5 might have a few beige boxes around.
He threw in the Fractal Design mid tower it was in. (I think it's a Core 3000 USB 3.0. Two 3.0 and two 2.0 ports on the front panel with a mesh front)

I've been using a 550w antec since bf3 came out. Are you saying a 650w gold is going to deteriorate really fast?
>>
>>51828195
hope you aren't trolling. But ok, MSI Radeon R9 390 8GB Video Card is a very good graphics card to go crossfire on, it will last for years on if you go crossfire on that card
>>
>>51828250
that will be dependent on your build, having a 550w will restrict you a lot for future upgrades on your computer. But your build, your choice
>>
>>51828214
CrossFire if you're playing at higher resolutions and increases the longevity of the PC before needing to upgrade.

>>51827834
Change the motherboard to a H-board if you don't intend to overclock. It'll save you some cash otherwise everything looks good.

- Drop the RAM down to DDR3-1600
- Get rid of the SSD and put a 1TB Hard drive unless you don't actually want the HDD. The OS will take up a good chunk of that SSD and it's expensive.
- Get rid of the DVD drive. That's obscenely expensive.
- Put the money towards a cheap case and a decent power supple. Never cheap out on the power supply.
>>
>>51828372
get a better psu, otherwise looks like a good 1st build.

Here's what I have so far. OC'ing is not a priority for me. This machine will be used for work and multimedia. The plan is to get a GPU at a later date (I plan on playing SFV and Dragon's Dogma).

What do you guys think? Any suggestions for a GPU?
>>
>>51828434
>>51828372
Oh yeah. Dump that case.

Case and PSU combos are usually both garbage.

I disagree about the ssd. Get the ssd now and later buy a HDD as slave drive.
>>
Is it worth buying a PC for 750 Euros if it has GTX 970, i5 4570, 1TB GB HDD, the page doesnt have info on mobo, psu and other parts, not even the brands, but its a full PC. Worth?
>>
>>51828493
6600 on a Z-board. No. Get a H-board and save money.
BX100 SSD range aren't the best as far as SSD's go. Go to the MX100 range.
Rest is ok

Can anyone find better (AUS - AUD)
>>
Why build a pc when you could buy a prebuild on the cheap that'll last a couple years, then exchange parts when you actually need to for even cheaper? Building pcs don't save the consumer as much money as it did even 2 years ago.

Can someone explain why people still do this?
It literally makes no sense.
>>
>>51828577
Prebuilds are often more expensive because the builder wants his shekels and you get forced to pay for Windows.
>>
>>51828535
Save yourself a couple of $100's of dollars and do it yourself.

>>51828577
Because it's cheaper and you can build it the way you want. Use whatever case you like. Whatever parts you want. Not the meme parts that company can't sell.

>>
>>51828577
this question makes no sense, it just doesnt make any sense to by prebuilt unless theres prebuilts out there that cost literally less then the sum of its parts, which of course they dont, they charge more
>>
>>51828711
If your budget was $3099,
Intel Core i7-4790K
and x2 fury x crossfire
Corsair Vengeance Pro 16GB
Samsung 500GB SSD complented with a hitachi 4TB desk or ultrastar HDD
>>

i5 750 overclocked to 3.7 ghz
Asus H55 LGA 1156 motherboard
GTX 760
Cooler Master Wavemaster Case
Arctic Alpine 11 GT cpu cooler
>>
>>51828195

Remember not to buy hardware from an outdated generation

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/X7P8pg
>>
>>51828711
- If you don't need an i7, and it's for gaming then the i5-6600k is more than powerful enough.
- The CPU cooler is exceptionally good but it's really designed for massive overclocks.
- Krait motherboard range is a meme. GigaByte UD/G1 series, ASUS board are all my preference.
- 2x8GB RAM sticks will save you cash
- SeaGate Barracuda. No. DeskStar or WD Blue
- MSI Gaming/STRIX/G1/SSC 980Ti's or Dual Fury X's if you want 4k power but I'm guessing you're playing at 1080p..

>>
>>51828940
also get a cpu cooler with very good cooling performance so your CPU doesn't wear out much. It'll make it last above 10 years if you take care of it. Also underclocking a CPU will increase the lifespan of your cpu
>>
>>51828766
Are you GPU or CPU limited in the games you play?
That looks like a pretty good setup, and you're not gonna see much improvement this side of a 4690k/970.

>#Justthingspeoplewhodontknowwhattheyretalkingaboutsay
Whydoyouhavetospeaklikethisitmakesyoulooklikeyouraretard
But seriously, if you think about it, underclocking will mean your cpu emits less heat which means less wear and tear on the inside, and in general underclocking does increase its lifespan
>>
>>51828977
Justify when you say its a 'meme'. I will explain, you're saying an i7 is overkill? or its price/performance is simply rubbish compared to an i5. If either of these, does NOT defeat the fact that an i7 is better than an i5 if you have the budget.

Yeah might wanna go with some low profile ram for compatibility, even though it might fit in that current build, you don't know where you'll use it in the future. There's literally no point in buying ram with tall heatspreaders.

Nice setup for sure. If I were you I would get more storage.

Get at least a 240gig SSD, and make both of those sea gates the 2TB ones.

With the 2 TB you can have a backup on each HD along with a lot of media storage like movies, music and pictures.

If you do a lot of gaymin I would even get a bigger SSD, or one dedicated for the games, and then have the smaller one be for you operating system and other programs.

Sure, buy a 200R like everyone else. And have dust going in everywhere. You can use fishnets as dust filters, but most people will not even bother to do that.

That case makes management a breeze. I worked on one before, and got it pronto under 30 minutes.

You can customize almost everything, and just leave the things that you actually want in it, making airflow better overall.

Can someone expand on the reasoning behind AMD being shit for upper-mid (4690 area) processors?

Look for something rated 80+ Gold or higher. More efficient PSUs put off less heat, so they require less cooling.
>>
How is this build /g/?

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/9mqCTW
>>
>>51834396
The Bulldozer architecture uses "modules" instead of traditional cores. Each module contains two ALUs and one floating point unit. This module is considered two cores because the ALUs can operate independently, but they share resources such as cache and floating point, which hinders performance. There were several other problems as well, such as AMD not having access to a fab that can reliably do 14nm lithography, which left them with the 32nm that Intel left behind with Ivy Bridge.
>>
>>51834453
I've never seen that h440 case before! I wish they would make a s340 in matte black, just without the fucking ricer razer logo.

It's decent, you've got your priorities mostly right. I don't trust Kingston, you can get G. Skill memory for less money. Also, everything I've heard about the Corsair RM series tells me it's a bad idea.

As an owner of the H440 tower, it's a great case, but it's louder than you'd expect. The fans in the front are always on. If you're in a room with some ambient noise already present, it probably won't be noticeable, but if your room is silent you'll definitely hear them.

Taking a look, the RMi series is good, the RM series is spotty. Most of the RM series PSUs are manufactured by CWT, which is an all around mediocre manufacturer. They'll meet specifications and they're not going to blow up on you or anything, but OEMs like Superflower, Seasonic, Flextronics, etc. are usually the better option if they're around the same price.

Corsair RM and RMi series are okay. They are just massively overpriced for their projects are all around (made by CWT and Chicony Power Technology).

You should aim to buy Seasonic or Superflower (the best in the world) brands or rebrands.

For example, an EVGA G2 is a superflower rebranded PSU.

>>

as long as the APU is sitting on a mobo that support fast ram like 1800Mhz or more then you sould get 41~ 51FPS on meduim setting in BF4 on its own with the 7870K

apu's can be used on their own or crossfire/sli with another deicated gpu
its nthe same with skylake as well just so you know.
>>
>>51836777
If you're doing any gaming and you have the budget for an 860K + 260X+, get that.
AMD isn't really giving you anything for free with their APUs. The A8-7600 is pretty good APU for $18 more, but you can pick up a 265 (7850) for $99 and a 270 for $110 that are more than 3x faster. If you're willing to go used you can do even better. I've picked up a GTX 580 for $15, and just yesterday picked up two 7870;s for $60 each. So spending even that $18 for APU graphics (and losing 600MHz in CPU clockspeed over the 860k) just isn't a good purchase, IMO.

fine but your SSD on its own is going to get full very fast.

you can afford to cheap out on your system ram as your CPU as no iGPU
