Alright /g/, let's make a mouse guide. There's lots of shit ones that morons make, so let's get together and make one. It should have a few pros and cons of each mouse and pretty pictures and shit. I have started one, but don't wanna go full retard and just put my ideas in.

So here's what we need:

>Mice you own/have owned and your thoughts
>Anything else

Let's stop being n33ts and actually address the thread that comes up three times a day

I'll put mine in too. Steelseries Rival

+ Zero-acceleration optics
+ Good software
- Relatively Heavy
- Meh build quality
* Palm grip
* Ergonomic

Good or Great. Anyone else?

My mouse - Logitech G502

+ Adjustable DPI
+ No acceleration
+ Comfortable for claw grip
+ Good for larger hands (only if using claw grip)
+ Best mouse wheel I've ever used (button for clicky wheel or frictionless)
+ Decent amount of programmable buttons
+ Multipul profiles
+ Adjustable weight

- worse software than razors
- Only suitable for claw grip
- Profile button is in a stupid place
- DPI button in stupid place also not tectile enough
- looks like a gay UFO
>>
Logitech G402
+ excellent sensor
+ cheap
+ responsive/durable buttons
+ easy configuration

- light
- cheap usb cable (not braided)
- gaymer aesthetic

Overall I'd give it good tier, maybe great if the g502 wasn't objectivley better. I've been pretty happy with it

>>

>worse software

Eh, Ive liked the software for logitech mouses thus far, pretty easy to customize shit.

But yes the mouse is to small for my big ass hand unless I claw grip. The stupid fucking m6 button has such a shitty placement. hate it when my pinky sort of just drags along due to the small size as well.

I miss my g500s. I wish i wasnt such a chimp and
accidentally let it slip out of my hand, hit the edge of my table and fucked up the laser as a result
Logitech G402

>Feels nice in the hand
>adjustable DPI in your chosen range and increments (you can choose a small range of closer DPI settings, spread them far apart or whatever random difference between steps you choose, up to 5 steps)
>5 customizable function buttons
>control of LEDs
>can save settings onboard

Cons
> can get dirty somewhat easily
>scroll wheel not my favorite (maybe just personal?)

I use the back two buttons for volume, the thumb for mute (great for phone calls or when my wife is trying to say something) and the top two extras for DPI though there is a list of things you can set them for. The default for the thumb button is an immediate DPI shift at a level you choose, which if you can remember to use it can be kind of useful for shooters to change speed in scope/zoom, speed up aiming a slower weapon, or just whatever, I almost immediately made it the mute button, couldn't be dicked into finding something more creative.

As someone who uses this as palm, this is entirely true. My G9x was better.

There already is a better one, with all the sensors listed

I use the 402 with Palm, if that's worth adding. Not sure if claw would be doable with it, never tried because it seems to fit my hand pretty naturally for Palm.

Deathadder (whatever the latest memename for it is)

++Extremely comfy
++Extremely low LOD when calibrated

+Top-tier sensor
+5 buttons
+100-6400 DPI choice
+Minimalistic (lights are optional)
+Profiles can be synced via cloud
+One profile can be stored on mouse, to run without software/internet connection

-Still need account(?)/internet connection to configure said offline profile initially
-Rubber side grips are a pain to clean and will get pretty gross
-Relatively expensive

--Shitty quality control
--Software likes to demand system reboots after even the most trivial of updates

*The most common thing to 'fail' (m1 or m2 doubleclicking when you click once) is a 5min job to fix and the results will last years.
*Note how I say their QC is shit, not that the build quality is necessarily shit; deathadders can be pretty damn sturdy, but from my experience it's a lottery as to whether you'll get one that lasts years without issue, or one where the side button will physically snap within a couple of weeks.

Gamdias Demeter

+AHK-based software
+Comfortable symmetric design
+Small extensions on each mouse button make it more comfortable to use
+Nice texture grip for thumb and pinky
+Nice sensor quality
+Perfect midground between light and heavy, no flimsiness
+RGB scrollwheel that can be set for individual profiles for visual feedback
+Equilibrated teflon mouse pads, hard to tilt.

+- XButton1/2 are on separate sides
+- Silly software, but highly customizable

-XButtons get in the way in certain grip styles and feel dumb to press (weird squeeze & clack)
-DPI button is high profile
-Can't reprofile DPI in software
-Demeter logo on left mouse button very tactile
-Large seams
-Can't change profiles without software opened
-Software takes a long time to start and forces focus

Blatant lie. You can't fix the chink micro-switch, you need to hunt down and solder on a real Japanese Omron D2FC-F-7N. This is not a 5 minute project.

Razer Imperator 2012 Expert

+ Comfortable for both Palm and Fingertip grip
+ Movable thumb buttons
+ Rubberized contoured thumb grip
+ Smooth scroll wheel
+ Strong blue lights (you can also turn them off Individually)
+ One Synapse profile can be stored on mouse so it doesn't require further usage of Razer's shitty software
+ 6400dpi 4G Dual Sensor
+ 7 programmable buttons
+ Nice matt-grey finish
+ Feels solid
+ Braided Cable

- Requires Razer's shitty software
- Software needs to restart your PC every update
- Starts off with shitty acceleration
- Might be too heavy for some
- It's literally rigged to break after a year of use (MB1 or MB2 start to double click like on every other Razer mouse)

Logitech M100

+ Comfortable Claw grip
+ Scroll wheel actually works fine
+ Feels solid, good look / colours
+ Can work just fine for CS:GO / FPS depending on your sensitivity, I had to increase mine a little bit.
+ No extra buttons

- No extra buttons
- After extrensive use it will start doublecliking randomly when you only click once, very inconsistent in that regard
- How do you even find out the DPI of this piece of shit
- At low sensitivity it will not track your fast mouse movements that well, like turning around 180, you have to up your sensitivity or it will lag behind a bit
- Build quality seems cheap

* Somehow got me to Legendary Eagle

I would put this in meh to good tier, for a 13€ mouse. It has served me well, I think I'll replace it with a Rival or Zowie FK1/FK2 this Christmas.

Natec Genesis GX69

+Comes with an extra set of underneath pads
+Braided cable
+Buttons feel nice
+Autofire button that works better than any software-supplied macros

-Sent 3 times to warranty in 1 year, extremely unreliable
-"Ergonomic" design only for one very specific grip style and for a specific hand size - uncomfortable in most conditions
-The adjustable handrest is useless, and making it bigger is uncomfortable
-The screw on the adjustable handrest is pure unpainted metal, your fingers smell like iron after use
-"Adjustable weighs" are completely useless, screws have very small weight
-Cancerous software
-Paint scrapes off the buttons
-Broken DPI settings, high DPI can be lower sensitivity
-Gets very dirty and hard to clean through the cliffs between parts
-Poor LED

I find a lot of people like lighter mice, probably because it's easier to sling them around. It doesn't bother me too much. In fact they actually have extra weights on the inside to intentionally make it heavier, so I guess people who play MMOs like heavier mice? I dunno.

I find it a little oddly shaped, but then I always felt like if they blended the thumb grid of this with the body & scroll wheel of the G700 they would have the perfect mouse.

hey /g/

I want to upgrade from G500 to either the 402 or the 502.

My first choice was the 502 but after reading the thread it seems that palm grip makes it not comfortable.

I'd like to get the 402 but my shit gets dirty fast because I live in an area where there is too much dust and the room temperature on hot days dries wet towels in a few hours.

So is it possible to actually use palm grip for 502?

Dust isn't my problem with the 402 so much as minding where your hands have been before you touch it. Greasy hands will become immediately apparent
>>
G500S i'm happy with it
>>
Mionix Castor/Naos7000/Avior 7000 (depending on your grip)
+good amount of buttons
+perfect senors
+comfy af
+fully configurable angel shaping and all
+macro support

-lack luster software
-cannot store multiple profiles
-castor only has a single DPI button (avior and naos have up and down)
>>
Can we have a separate list where we don't take pricing into account? While it's obviously an important factor for most people when buying, it doesn't give an accurate depiction of how good each mouse compares to each other objectively.
>>
>>51821342

trackball > trackpad > touch screen > pleb mouse > gayming mouse with a million buttons for casting spells
pic related is mine
+ HUEG ball
+ 4 programmable buttons
+ scroll ring
+ heavy enough to not move around the desk
+ not fucking wireless
- cheapest price i could find was $65
- the scroll ring feels like shit for the first month. it seems to catch one something while you twist it. after a while it wears down
- the top and bottom pairs can be programmed to perform another click when pressed together, but this causes a lag when you click just one while it waits to see if the other is about to be clicked
- included software mostly sucks. i only use it to adjust scroll speed.
- it's fucking huge on the desk.
~ bettertouchtool is all but required if you want to do anything beyond right click, left click, back, forward with the buttons
~ might be a reliability problem. i haven't had it long enough to know.
~ the included wrist support is useful, but poorly designed. it's annoying to attach and doesn't sit as sleekly to the mouse as i thought it would
still the best mouse i've ever owned. it replace a microsoft trackball optical that i had to clean 3 times a week and currently costs $600 or something on amazon.

I've been using my cheap mouse for a while. Utechsmart Venus MMO Mouse.

Originally got it to play some mmo (Tera/WoW), but don't play them anymore.

>Pros
Lots of buttons
Cheap
DPI choice (16400 dpi, can choose)
Custom Macro software (comes with it)
Customize color (can change frequency of blinking and color I believe)
Sturdy cable

>Cons
Some weird mouse movement a year ago (bought this mouse 2 years ago), haven't had that since.

I believe I bought this for <$30. Its a generic chinese mouse that other manufacturers make use of .

I'd like to add to this one, as I have it as well... It's good for small hands. I was using a RAT 3 before because it was good for my hand size, I was afraid the G502 would be awful as far as size, but it works well.

also, the g100s is pretty good. ambidextrous, no button4 or button5, default dpi is 1000. Extremely lightweight (70g) once the weight inside is removed.

something that you definitely should include is whether special software might be needed for configuration (polling rate, dpi stuff), support for different operating systems and what sensor the mouse uses.

We have an iMac at work that plays games pretty well. (GTX 775M) The only downside is the fucking magic mouse, it literally scrolls and shit randomly.

Why all the Logitech shilling? Technically their mice are OK, but both wheel and buttons are crap. I'd take a fucking dell office mouse over that trash any day.

actually g mice software is THE best thanks to lua scripting integration

Also, g502 is god tier for non-fps (2 heavy event at it lightest 4 fps)

zowie fk is god tier - it has all you need and nothing you dont.

It's worth to mention it has huano switches that are a lot stiffer then omrons - can be a deal breaker for some and a reason to buy for others

Not shilling bro. I don't like Logitech either, but they make good mice. Also, you only need to quote me once. I still get notified.

Razer Taipan

+ Ambidextrous
+ Sturdy
+ Wired
+ DPI can be changed using the two buttons below the scrool wheel
+ Comfy

- Clicking with the scroll button will start to get a little dodgy after a few months of use, but will go back to normal
- Sensor gets inaccurate sometimes after a few months of use, but is easily fixed by wiggling the mouse around
- Muh Razer gaymen gear (really only a drawback if you're autistic)

Newer versions of the software work fine and how is the braided cable not good? One con I'd like to add is that theres poor accommodation for ring and pinky fingers
>>
I own a Zowie FK 2 and a DeathAdder Chromeme and having alternated between them on different PCs for about a year now I would say the DeathAdder belongs next to the Zowie on God Tier as far as quality and feel. Software isn't even that annoying. Just my opinion, though.
