php or javascript
>>51817754
depends on what you want to do....
>>51817754
Perl
What? They're two entirely different languages for two entirely different purposes, unless you're talking about node.js (which is a much better idea than php). It's almost impossible to build a decent website without JavaScript.
BTW, c# for your backend.
>>51817765
what are each good at?
>>51817754
Ruby
I mean, if you want to execute code browser side, javascript. If you want to execute code server side, PHP, nor Node, which uses Javascript.
>>51817754
If you're asking where you should start learning, go with Javascript, because it can do front and back end since node came to (mostly) ubiquity.
>>51817754
They are used for different things

What the fuck are you even asking, you jobless 1 year programmer?
>>51817829
>>51817774
Fucking faggots
I bet you like XML and program on windows
>>51817877
Nope.
Only use json, my backend doesn't require any config files, it's fully tested on mono and deployed on debian with nginx. You're too old to be here if you think C# is purely Microsoft nowadays, give it a few years and I'd bet mono will start benchmarking faster than jvm.
>>51817944
I'm 19, haven't heard of this mono framework yet. Checking it out now. I've tried ASP.net, and I currently work with a proprietary version of JSP ..even coming from a OOP background, they've they've both left a bad taste in my mouth.
The future of web is 100% JS.
Fight me.
>>51817944
>The future of web is 100% JS.
please god, no!
>>51817754
I mean, generally, Javascript.
But nothing is useless
>>51817862
Node.js is a pretty decent backend, supplement by the fact that it works well with the frontend.
>>51818099
Who are you quoting?
>>51818027
Yes.
Those aren't my favourite technologies either and asp (specifically it's config file and fact its slower than its reputation states) was pretty convincing in making my own backend framework, which is around twice as fast as asp and double digits times faster than some of the oldest, most bloated versions.
Node js is great and JavaScript isn't a bad language, some things makes me duplicate code, which annoys me and looks nooby, but otherwise I don't mind it. Node.js can open and close connections real fast, so its okay by my book.
Consider spark from java though, it's real simple, real fast and... Is java.
>>51818099
>JS is now in embedded systems
>Node is creeping into your appliances
It's only a matter of time
but seriously, check out es6. JS is making all the right moves, even if everything is syntactical sugar at this point.
>>51818156
>quoting
back to fucking reddit, currynigger
>>51817754
learn both
>>51817774
>It's almost impossible to build a decent website without JavaScript.
It's completely possible. You're a idiot.
>>51817779
Php for back end
Js for front end
>>51819441
you can use js for backend too, grandpa
>>51817877
well, actually i do, so?
>>51817944
>benchmarking faster than jvm
oh wow.
>>51820996
code on windows or xml?
the first i don't mind, but who the fuck actually likes xml?
ONLY JAVA
NOTHING ELSE
>>51817801
nice meme
enjoy the karma, +1
>>51817754

>>51821038
Believe it. It'll happen eventually.

Except for strong typing.
>>51817754
>screwdrivers or apples for gaming?
Fucking retarded question, you don't even know what you're talking about.
>>51817754
Why not both?
Asp.net mvc and JavaScript (sadly).
>>51819441
This guy got it right.
>>51819724
>you can use js for backend too, grandpa
And that's seriously the stupidest idea ever.
