Also that picture is fake as fuck. The bezels are nowhere near that thin.

Outside monitors in pic related is OP's purchase. Still better bezel thickness than that middle monitor.

Nice blog post

They're good monitors, bezels aren't that thin (there's a black border around the actual panel) but thin nonetheless. Better off with the U2415 though, for that 16:10, or the U2515H with QHD.

After using a shitty 1080p TN for so long, I can't even imagine what 4K IPS will look like. This shit is gonna be mind blowing.

Been meaning to buy a new monitor.
Are ultrasharps really worth it?
I saw u2412 is well within my budget. But it's a 3 year old monitor. Should i buy it or buy a newer version?

I'd get the 24" Dell 4k display. Using a similar one now and I love it.

Don't worry about the age, they're still solid monitors.

can someone explain to me why people buy these monitors? you can get =<5 ms g5g IPS 1080p monitors for less than $150.

Some people like to do work and the extra space really helps. I am pretty sure Wacom Intuos tablets are 16:10 and if you use it on a 1920x1080 display it either cuts off the bottom or stretches what you are trying to draw horizontally.

Jesus christ that's a horrible way to scale your hardware

I just got an Asus VX239H, best monitor I've had to date, but my last screen was a 32' cheap TV, so not a fair comparison. Still really happy with it and 10/10 would buy again

That would be amazing to have. But it's a little bit out of my price range and my current hardware would probably struggle to display such high resolutions. i bought this desktop 4 years ago.

That's what i wanted to hear. I'm not rich enough to afford the high end 4k displays these days. maybe in a few years when i'm earning more i will buy a whole new rig. But for now i want to have a widescreen monitor for once.

Development on a 4:3 17" monitor is a bit frustrating.

>u2412
If you mean the U2412M, there are many better options available now. Consider one of those instead.

The U2412M uses a very low frequency PWM backlight control system, which is visible as strobing artifacts in some content and may cause eye strain unless you max out the brightness all the time. Newer models don't do this (I guess it was a leftover from CCFL backlights).
The anti-glare coating is the rough type everyone complained about with old IPS monitors; while it's very effective in preventing reflections, it's sometimes visible as grainy patterns on flat colors. Which are everywhere these days.
Also, the scaler also can't handle a 1920x1080 signal properly and will stretch it into 1920x1200, so you'll have to do scaling in your video card if something just has to run in 1080p.
