Poorfag here, is making a low-end/cost gaming PC with just an APU a good idea? I only need to be able to play games from a few years ago or older, if it can do Bioshock Infinite it's okay with me.
I was thinking of a AMD 5350, does anyone have a better low cost idea?

Have a look.

Can't even get 30fps in Skyrim on these. Neat for a NAS build though.

If you are going with AMD, you do not need low end to make a gaming machine, get yourself an:
-AMD A10-5800k
-a Hyper 212 EVO, trust me the a10-5800k is a fuckin hot chip.
-FM2+ board (They are dirt cheap)
-at least 8GB of DDR3-1866 RAM minimum (Corsair Vengeance or G.Skill is recommended by me).
-Windows version is up to you, I recommend Windows 10 Home 64 bit, if you are in a tough spot financially install Windows 7 Home Premuim, then use a program called w7lxe, search google, and it will activate it for you. (Don't believe the BS everyone says about it, yes its a bit buggy, is it a deal breaker? NO!)
-500GB minimum HDD storage, 1TB if you have a massive steam library. (Sata III recommended, but you can get Sata II for cheaper because they are older.)
-256GB SSD minimum (FOR WINDOWS AND PROGRAMS ONLY) (If you can afford it, I recommend a Samsung 850 EVO)
-and a Radeon HD 7770. (Do keep in mind that AMD has ceased support for the 7xxx series cards).
Boom, a computer that can rock older games like a pimp.

>5800k
>When the 7600/7650k exists
>APU
>Getting a dedicated card anyway
>FM2+
>Not a 860k
Fucking how retarded are you?
If you're a poorfag get an lga1156 and a mobo from China.
Then overclock the living fuck out of it.
I5 750 or i7 860 would be good.

Holy shit this. My a10-7850k is averaging 73C idle just sitting at the bios. Granted my Noctua NH-L9A is meant for 65W cpus and this a10 is a fuckin 95W housefire
no, it's a terrible idea unless you want to game at 800x600 or similar res. just buy used and refurb parts, you could probably find a 2500k + gtx770 + mobo for ~$400.

just built that very computer for a friend, he loves it. he can play am his favorite games.

>NAS
>APU
What exactly do you need the iGPU for?
>>51814612
His point is that you're wasting money. You bought an older APU and on top of that you didn't even use the iGPU. You would have saved ~$60 which could have gone toward a better graphics card.
>>51814734
I did not use the iGPU because A) I had a 7770 laying around, and B) its less heat in the chip because its not using the iGPU. I got that chip running down in to 120-130 range, when using the iGPU, it was running up in the 160-170 range.
>>51814732
I think HTPC/NAS is a better idea.
>>51814529
you need to re-paste that bitch, something's wrong there.
>>51813936
Here's cheapest pc you can buy that can play Bioshock Infanite at 720p and manages to stay above 30fps. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/qRNvBm
Here's a benchmark:

>APU
>HD 7770
Why would you buy an apu only to use a discrete graphics card? Why an HD 7770? That thing is fuck all ancient, you can't buy one of those today. Why a 250GB SSD? He said poorfag.
OP here, thanks guys I'l look into a higher end APU in the FM2+ socket
>>51815776
A8 7650k
MSI A68HM P33 V2 (or E33 depending on your choice, HDMI or DVI)
2x4 GB RAM 2133
Seagate Barracuda or WD Caviar Blue 1TB
XFX TS 430W or Corsair VS 450W
It plays Bioshock Infinite decently AFAIK, at least I played GTA V at above 30fps at 1080p but on my desk I play at 1280x1024 and it runs better than that.
i got a lower end asus laptop on black friday. it can run fallout new vegas, dead space, call of duty, etc. better than consoles. im not sure a apu is good through. maybe try at least a dual core with dedicated graphic memory. idk though. it depends on the software. too many fucking variables...
>>51814216
Worst advice I've ever read, ssd when your on a budget lol
>>51813936
What is your maximum budget? It would really help if you provide it.
