That's not a DAC you fucking retard.

Pretty sure that thing contains a few DACs just as good as your meme accessories.

I bet you like Schiit amps.
>>
>>51802068
I recently switched from h/k to denon and was surprised how much better it was at least with my speakers. shit's so individual you won't know what you like until you'll listen to it

I think your on the wrong website there faggot

What is a DAC?
>>
>>51802068

It does have digital audio inputs so technically it's a DAC, don't forget your floor stands and bag of tuning stones

I got it for a really good deal too. It gives me entry level Dolby Atmos for less than £300. I was nearly tempted by Onkyo and Yamaha but they wanted more shekels for less features. This is a great little AVR.
>>
>>51802447

This. I haven't owned a ton of Denon gear, but everything I have experience with has been excellent.

DAC stands for "Direct Audio Cathode"
It changes how the audio frequency is presented, and thus altering the sound.

There are tons of DACs on the market, and each one of them have their own traits and features to alter the outgoing sound frequency.
>>
>>51803295
>Direct Audio Cathode
What?
I think it means Digital-Analog-Converter.

Can't decide between a bait or a very stupid audiophile.

Anyway a DAC means an Digital to Analog Converter, in opposition of an ADC which is an Analog to Digital Converter

OP isn't wrong, the unit includes digital inputs and this can be used as a DAC. The picture is blurry, but it appears to have TOSLINK and S/PDIF inputs and they're common amongst professional audio interfaces.

Why OP wouldn't have opted for a conventional prosumer unit for a couple hundred that has ASIO capabilities is beyond me.

Because it's not a musical instrument so I don't need low latency. I can use WASAPI in foobar2000 for audio playback. I purchased it as a surround sound system for my home cinema. But it can also be a DAC for my computer.
>>
>>51803586
You know interfaces with more than 2 outputs exist, right? The drivers with nearly all of them allow you to map the inputs and save routing presets (I.e. for home theater use). Hey, it's your money though.
>>
>>51803627
Because this is simpler than trying to setup software to decode the various surround sound formats to analog channels (Plus I don't think there is a Dolby Atmos and DTS:X decoder yet for MPC). I just plug this in and runs a setup using the supplied microphone and go.
>>
>>51802447

It really depends on what model of harmon you have

denon tends to have better (more powerful and better engineered electronics) throughout their line, while h/k has some consumer-level meh-tier stuff along with very good high end stuff
>>
also, I use a cambridge audio receiver as a pre-amp and the Cirrus DAC in the pre-amp is pretty good

i run that signal in a 140wpc dual mono-block SAE amp

sound fidelity blows the doors off my $149 onkyo receiver which I got used at goodwill fo $20

hey faggots is there any point in bi-amping bookshelf speakers?

digital analog converter, in this context it means transforming a digital audio signal like a .WAV into an analog audio signal that you can pump through an amplifier and out of your speakers.

if you already have a pretty good media player/receiver, you don't need no dac none

Yes, but i prefer the warmer tone Kràape amps have.

Lmao bruh, a fucking s4 is capable of playing 92khz/24bit files, i even think it can play 192khz files. But it doesn't even matter because its just sampling rate and bit depth, its just what type of file it can play back.
>>
Is this whole thread bait or something?
You can get a DAC for under 30 dollars that performs exactly the same as any that are more than a hundred bucks.
I refuse to believe so many retarded people browse this board now.

>>51807618

Absolute chink garbage. Do they still stuff their own shitty caps in there?

>>51807651
You can get a transparent DAC for that price. You can get heck of a lot better performance for more though even if it matters none in listening.
>>
>>51811772
Such as?
>>
>>51811928
When you need better I/O support, better support for datastreams/formats and more features in general(remote, 12v triggers, passthroughs etc) or a combo unit which acts as a preamp for example.
>>
>>51811990
I find it hard to justify spending inordinate amounts on features that can be had in receivers and extensions for much cheaper.
>>
Are they any of these that have display port support, or that can take an HDMI 2 input and output it to display port?
