I also carry stuff on my Flame, as it's always in my pocket so I just need to plug it in a computer to listen to high res music I've downloaded on Qobuz. I also use it to download stuff, like I did with portable tools and distros when my computer was broken.

>implying a 32-64gb flashdrive isn't worth the cost

I got a 32gb Kingston 3.0 for 12 dollars on amazon. Besides, there are more uses for a flashdrive than just storing files.
Shit like having recovery tools and cleaning tools in case you need to fix somebody's computer, or to clean malware out without having to ssh into your server, which would waste all your time.
Also, it's easier to put a full linux distro on a usb and use it to troubleshoot and fix issues that you otherwise wouldn't be able to do on a system that is so fucked beyond repair.
>>
Why can I never get a flash drive to last more than a year?

I bought a Corsair Voyager 64GB and that only lasted like 6 months.

What the fuck.
>>
>>51810968
>Shit like having recovery tools and cleaning tools
I haven't had to boot into recovery or install an in ages, but in the event that I do, I normally just grab an old laptop drive and plug it in via esata to do that.

>in case you need to fix somebody's computer, or to clean malware
I don't have time to fix other peoples' computers. I tell my family to go to the local repair place when their tech breaks so that some entry level slave can fix it for them, and my gf has a mac and isn't tech retarded.
>>
>>51810244
good luck using that bandwidth on the event you or your server are offline
>>
>>51811094

Good job, but not everyone has an old laptop drive that they carry around. It'd be easier to use a flash drive.

>I don't have time
but you have time to get remote access to your server through someone else's LAN, when you could just use a flash drive? I wouldn't fix my family's shit either, unless I was going to get something out of it.
That still doesn't defeat the argument for using a flash drive.

>but you have time to get remote access to your server through someone else's LAN, when you could just use a flash drive?
sshfs user@myserver:/datastore/ /mnt/remote/
is infinitely easier than having to find the shit I want to copy over, copying over the files I need, making sure everything already on the flashdrive is up to date, and then making sure that I have all the files that I need and am not missing anything.

>I wouldn't fix my family's shit either
Then why are you arguing it as a reason for why you would use a flashdrive? Sure, I'll admit a flashdrive is handy if you're a teenager working at geeksquad or something, but otherwise, it's just more of a hassle than anything.
>>
>>51811148
I haven't had downtime on my server in over a year. Sounds like you just suck at using technology, bud.
>>
>>51811394
You do realize you don't have to copy the files over once they're on the drive, right? You can use them FROM the drive. I mean, I have a flash drive that I used as a LiberKey, and that's all I use that one for.

I didn't argue it as a reason to use a flash drive. I said people. As in people who aren't my family. As in, people who are going to pay me to fix their bullshit. Next time, use some reading comprehension.
