What have you fucked up recently, /g/?
I listened to /g/

Not asking my mom to buy a new box of Kleenex
>>51793199
Accidentally rm -rf'd part of my network shares but I managed to bring them back using extundelete.
>>51793199
sudoniggers, gentlemen.
Remember to set up a root password always.
So? Just get a live USB and transfer the files and reinstall the system
>>51793199
today i attached a parent vmdk rather than the newest child snapshot to a new vm to test something. this obviously then invalidated all the snapshots.
>>51793199
so? you su root and fix it.
I tried to do the oven trick on a z97 mobo my friend was about to throw out.
Forgot to take the battery out and it went boom, I'll never know if it would have worked or not ;_;
>>51793274
>not encrypting your files
>>51793199
Isn't this as simple as booting with a live CD, and messing with /etc/passwd?
Hence the saying "if they have physical access, you have no security"?
I didn't respect rsyncs delete functionality enough. Also one time I rm -rf'd my home folder.
>>51793274
>and transfer the files and reinstall the system
Or just edit the sudoers file
>>51793199
why is this that big of a deal?
Cant you login as root and add yours to the wheel and allow the wheel to run sudoers?
>>51793428
I encrypt my laptop NP.
Youd have to be retarded to encrypt drives with more than 500GB on it.
>>51793730
true, never tried it though
It was my last day at work (IT) and I wanted to wipe my Linux portion and leave the Windows. Log into Windows, go into partition manager, delete Linux partitions.
>Grub is gone
Fuck I was about to walk out the door once this was done.
I accidentally deleted the contents of my Videos folder when I was trying to sync it up with my OwnCloud. They were both named "Videos" so I figured I would be deleting the empty folder on the server. Nope.
Now I just give the server folder a different name so I know which one is which.
>>51793271
Eh, just liveboot it and chroot into your partition. Or boot another distro if you have more installed, even easier.
>>51793434
Yes,I did that and edited /etc/groups actually. Still pissed me off. A lot.
I tried to dereference a null pointer like a nub
Otherwise I am perfection
>>51793199
whats the problem?
don't know your root password?
just su and add your user to sudo group again.
god damn turbonoob
watched an episode of linustechtips
>>51793199
just boot a liveCD, chroot, and fix your mistake
>>51794280
Root user is disabled you turbo nerd
>>51794280

>I open the door to my office

>Long hair
>Smells of shit and dirt
>He looks at me "Allow me to interject anon" he said doing a punch
>A quick right hook to the gut, I see his hand, it reads "GNU+"
>Last thing I see is a quick left with the word "INUX"
>I wake up, my head hurts
>I go for my phone, my windows (TM) phone
>I can't find it
>Oh no. It's a custom os phone.
>Look for my Lenovo (TM) laptop, it has been smashed to smithereens
>I see, lying under them a thinkpad
>I open it... It has gentoo
>I realize my mistake
>I take a deep breath of stallman second hand freedom aroma
My mistake was using proprietary software.
>>51794918
does /g/ like c#? there is mono so how do you guys feel?
>>51794992
C# is garbage as just a language, and worse with the runtimes surrounding it.
>>51794992
I enjoy it, but never have a chance to use it.
What you think of this?
>>51793199
Accidentally dd my harddrive instead of my flashdrive.
>>51793815
10 min job.
Boot into windows recovery disk, fixmbr done.
>>51795651
Is your mobo warped?

deleting my /home folder.
luckily didn't have much there, and just resynced my owncloud folder and mkdir'd the folders, most were empty.
>>7713054
I chmod basically everything to 000 recursively

I bought a computer and I didn't check it out thoroughly before buying.
3 pending sectors.
i installed gentoo on 3 machines this year
>>51793199
>fucking removed my user from the sudo group today
Why is this a problem? Do you not have a root user set up?
>>51798087
Literally just off yourself, your life is fucking over.
>>51793199
Removed my entire DE from my Linux Mint install
It was high time to switch to Arch anyway
>>51793815
I did the same thing once
I just made a quick recovery disk from my friend's computer and got it fixed pretty fast though
Removed my flash drive without safely ejecting USB Mass Storage Device first
>>51796192
What makes you say that?
