Audiophilia is a sickness. as a rule the science behind how sound works and is (re)produced is very, very, very well understood and really there aren't any earth shattering advacements in the field anymore (at least at the sort of levels we are talking).
Thus companies that make sound equipment thats not for professional work spend lots of money on marketing and buzzwords to attract a crowd of people that strongly believe in placebo. The mid-range seems like it could be pretty good, but I hear it as so disconnected from all else that I could hardly keep track of what’s what in the confused aural picture. I’ve heard worse headphones before, but for $2749 these have got to be the worst price/performance headphones I’ve ever experienced.

I have a hd518 that i was using for a good 2 years. Then I got hd600s and they sounded amazing for about two days... and now i kinda don't even realize there's a difference since i use them regularly. It just became a norm sound.
I feel like audiophiles keep chasing that brief moment of the time when you put new headphones/speakers on and hear that diffierence before it fades into the back of your mind and you need to refresh it by getting new ones.
