I put duct tape over my keyboard lights. They shine through enough to see them at my desk but dont light up my ceiling at night.

It blue light lowers the melatonin level even in very dim conditions.
Red on the other had is very safe and stress free on the brain and eyes,thats why we use programs like flux.
